2011 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 Gets Carbon Limited Edition Model

When the 2006 Corvette Z06 was introduced, it represented the closest connection to the Corvette race cars ever. The 2009 Corvette ZR1 closed the gap between racing and production even further. This year, Chevrolet continues its tradition of track-to-street technology transfer with the 2011 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 Carbon Limited Edition.

The car is a tribute to the 50th anniversary of Corvette’s first race in the 24 Hours of Le Mans and essentially combines the 7.0-liter LS7 V-8 from the Z06 with the suspension and brake package of the ZR1. No changes have been made to the powertrain, which means peak output still stands at 505 horsepower.

Some of its special items include Brembo carbon-ceramic brakes, black wheels measuring 19 inches up front and 20 inches in the rear and wrapped with Michelin PS2 tires, Magnetic Selective Ride Control active suspension, and a host of carbon-fiber accessories.

An optional Z07 performance package that includes the mechanical upgrades introduced on the Z06 Carbon can be added to a regular 2011 Z06. This package also includes the new wheels and all the chassis and cooling upgrades.

Another CFZ Z06 carbon fiber package includes black carbon-fiber rockers, splitter and roof panel with the full-width body color spoiler. It can also be purchased with or without the Z07 package on regular Z06 models.

The 2011 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 Carbon Limited Edition, as well as the new Z07 and CFZ Z06 option packages, will be available in late summer. Only 500 examples will be built and customers will have to choose from just two color options: Inferno Orange and the all-new Supersonic Blue. Oh, and the race car style numbering on the car’s flanks are optional.

That racing number is pure cheese, page out of the riceboy book.

Some people do competitively race their corvettes, and have set numbers for competition... but I still somewhat agree.

Right, but what will they do if two people show up with this car? Fight over who gets to really race with #11?

Is it only available as #11? If so, then that's silly. I guess '11 would be for the model year? Blah.

As for the car itself, being able to get a Z06 with lots of ZR1 goodies is pretty sweet.
