Mazda appoints new marketing chief

03/26/2010, 8:50 AMBY ANDREW GANZ

Mazda’s North American office has announced that current president of Mazda Canada will also take on the responsibilities of Chief Marketing Officer for the entire North American region. Don Romano will oversee marketing efforts in the United States and Canada in the newly-created position.

Romano will still be based in Mazda’s Canadian headquarters, rather than the Irvine, California, office that serves as the company’s North American gateway.

Although Romano has only been with Mazda since 2000, he has held a variety of marketing-level positions, including Vice President of Marketing and General Manager of Mazda’s Western Region.

Romano will report directly to Mazda North America President and CEO Jim O’Sullivan and Keishi “Keith” Egawa, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer.
