AutoExtremist: Auto Mags Are DEAD

Popular Science and Popular Mechanics were always on the end stands at Dads and Grandpas armchair. I only remember McCahills review of the mid 70's Matador coupe, mainly because Dad had one. He mentioned how the car did the perfect 4 wheel drift, neither over or understeering but predictable 4 wheel drift........he was 100% correct, that is how the car handled.

His artical on the Porsche 930 turbo was soley responsible for turning my interests from a Cuda and such to European sports cars.

Which is why I had a brief magazine period in the early 80's but with Road and Track only, the few C&D or MT's I bought did not have what I was interested in.........now we see what brings us to todays automotive Shakespearian enquirians

Magazines and network TV/radio will live on, there is enough population to make profit from even a small percentage of sales..................and with Toyota and Honda spending some of the money saved on cheap labor..........ah never mind

Someone else who reads Collectible Automobile (and Car)!! How long have you been reading CA?

I've read CA since about 1985...discovered it at a bookstore when I was in high school. I've read Car off-and-on for about 15 years now.

Anyone remember a magazine called 'Auto Design' or similar? I got a few issues in the late '80s.. it was focused on car design and styling in general..neat little mag.

I like Hemmings Muscle Machines today..it's a good replacement for the old monthly Muscle Car Review magazine (I had a subscription to that in the '80s-90s).
