While I agree with you to an extent, a better comparison would have been the GT (more similar power numbers).

But what gets lost in your statement is that very few people who shop a V-Series, much like those who shop an M, AMG, or RS, aren't making their purchases based on fuel economy. It's just a perk.

The added MPG is not just a perk to those who buy performance cars anymore it is life and death of a performance car anymore. Everything has to show an inprovment in MPG to keep the cars coming.

The MFG are doing all they can to gain every single MPG they can.

Right now smaller engines no matter the cylinder count and less wieght are the first moves and then we get into the expensive hybid stuff that they will have to resort to in do time.

So the companies are not trying to use more MPG as a selling point in the V class as it is more trying to use it as a point to keep the breed alive. I just don't think the general public really understands what kind of cars are coming and how much some of them will cost to go fast.

Now on the other hand Benz, BMW and Porsche have been pushing the green agenda in Europe as the Geen Party is very strong over there and has many supporters.

This point is something GM needs to think about if they plan to push Cadillac in Europe again. Just look at all the green ideas the German companies are pushing today. The new 918 is the one that will make a big impact on performance brands as it's technology trickles down into the other 9 series cars like the 959 did. Ferrari also has one coming too.
