Jaguar announces new warranty, maintenance program for 2011 MY vehicles

04/22/2010, 9:04 AM BY DREW JOHNSON

Jaguar doesn’t have the best track record for reliability and inexpensive maintenance, but the British automaker will look to alleviate those concerns with a beefed-up warranty and maintenance program for the 2011 model year.

Dubbed Jaguar Platinum Coverage, the program includes a 5-year/50,000 mile warranty, 24/7 roadside assistance and free maintenance, including wear and tear items. Jaguar’s currently warranty is for 4-years/50,000 miles.

Jaguar offered a free maintenance program in the past, but Ford pulled the plug on the project in 2006. Jaguar’s previous free maintenance program wasn’t as far reaching, though, and didn’t include wear and tear items like brake pads and brake discs. The new program will also offer customers no-cost oil changes, brake fluids and wiper blades.

“Jaguars have always been known as beautiful, fast cars, and now, with our modern lineup supported by Jaguar Platinum Coverage, they will be known as beautiful, fast cars with exceptional customer care and dealership service,” said Jaguar North America Vice President of Marketing and Sales, Richard Beattie. “We are delighted to now provide our customers the class-leading warranty and maintenance package in the luxury segment; we hope to turn our customers’ affair with Jaguar into a long term relationship. We are firm on our mission to continue to provide an extraordinary level of customer satisfaction.”

The program will launch with the all-new Jaguar XJ next month, and will quickly spread to the company’s 2011 XF and XK models. Jaguar’s sales are down 14 percent so far this year, compared to a market that is up 16 percent.
