Electronics expert Neuman to head VW China operations

Volkswagen AG said today that Karl-Thomas Neumann will be the new head of its China unit.

Neumann, 49, will replace Winfried Vahland, who moves to head VW's Skoda unit, the carmaker said.

VW CEO Martin Winterkorn said Neumann "will break new ground in China, both in terms of business development and as an expert in future technologies.”

Neumann, who currently is VW Group chief officer for electric traction, joined VW on December 1 after quitting as CEO of German supplier Continental AG.

At Skoda Vahland, 53, who has headed VW China since 2005, succeeds Reinhard Jung, 59, who is retiring.
