CD 2003: Cadillac SIXTEEN Concept Car

Recommended Posts

This could have been the most impressive flagship of the 21st century.

Now it's just a page in concept car history. :(

TEHH PUSHRODS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

still easily the most beautiful car ever built

EDIT: designed

Push rods are not necessarily a bad thing. They will be unique to Cadillac in the ultra luxury segment save for the 6 3/4 liter Rolls and Bentleys V8s. For a given amount of horsepower, push rod engines take up less space and weigh less than DOHC engines -- a big plus when you are trying to squeeze in 16 cylinders.

I won't make the car exclusively a sixteen cylinder though, although having a sixteen potter in the S600 price point is not a bad thing. The car can be the Caddy "Numbers" model -- named in a self-explanatory manner as "Six" and "Sixteen". In both cases, the installed power can be simply described as "adequate" with 0-60 times being "soon enough".

Cadillac Six -- 4.2 liter DOHC-VVT DI Turbo I6 (DI + Turbocharged LL8) -- 500 hp @ 5200~6200 rpm, 505 lb-ft @ 2200~5200 rpm

Cadillac Sixteen -- 12.3 liter Pushrod DI AFM V16 (two siamese Gen V Small blocks) -- 900 hp @ 6200 rpm, 876 lb-ft @ 4800 rpm

Since the Sixteen's completely operable V-16 was designed & engineered from scratch, why not use that work as opposed to a 'glued together' pair of V-8s ??
