CHRYSLER TO SAVE SEBRING CONVERTIBLE AFTER REFRESH?

By Mark Kleis

A little over a month ago Leftlane reported that Chrysler would likely retain the Sebring name for its upcoming refreshed model, but there was still doubt concerning whether Chrysler would retain the convertible model – or let it die before the refresh.

Now, sources at Allpar have suggested that Chrysler will indeed retain the drop-top variation of its once very popular Sebring model. As a result of its retention, Chrysler will need to provide the same thoroughly reworked interior, a freshened exterior, a re-tuned suspension for improved ride quality, a new Pentastar V6 engine and six-speed automatic to the convertible Sebring as well.

The same sources also suggest that the Sebring and Sebring convertible may be in line for a re-tuned four-cylinder engine as well, which is a strong possibility given the recent increase in CAFE standards by the EPA.

Although no firm release date for the freshened Sebring or Sebring convertible models have been established, Allpar’s sources suggest a late-2010 appearance for the sedan, and an early 2011 appearance for the drop-top.
