RetroAd: Showing off Nissan's original Z car

With Nissan Z car owners having met in Nashville over the weekend, we couldn't help but see what kind of old ads there might be for the original among them all, the Datsun 240Z. For those of you who don't remember, Datsun was the well recognized and regarded name until Nissan unwisely forced the brand to adopt the corporate identity.

This ad is kind of fun. We dug out this old piece in which racing driver John Morton tries to show how racing-car features made their way into the new little Z car. That's all good, but what really sold that car was its looks -- and the sharp contrast it presented to Detroit's muscle cars of the time.
