Movies you've seen fanatically

Recommended Posts

We all have those movies we've seen several times over. Here's my list:

James Bond movies

Diamonds Are Forever - 11x

On Her Majesty's Secret Service - about 7x

Live and Let Die - about 7 x

Moonraker - about 7 x

For Your Eyes Only - about 7 x

View To a Kill - about 4 x

The World is Not Enough - approx 4 x

Eddie Murphy

Beverly Hills Cop - the original - 5 x (opening chase scene only - forward and reverse - about 20x)

Trading Places - about 5 x

Other

Body Heat - 9x - I had to see it a second time to unravel the intricacy of the plot...and then I got hooked. Don't leave the room/theater in the last 15 minutes for the "yearbook scene."

Which movies qualify you as an OCD freak?

   Body Heat - amazing

Isn't it, though? Slinky, deceptive and intelligent. Wow. The first time you will miss some of the subleties...the second time you will make all the connections. The cast was great and so was the acting. The jazz score was ultra-sexy and top notch - wouldn't expect anything less from the guy who scores the music for 007 films.

Great line from Oscar, the black chief of police in the town:

"You brought this upon yo'self, man, people hear you be out there bangin' the widow, it tends to call attention to you."

Eliminating the few I own copies of (Christine, The Crow, Brazil, The Car)... 5 times or more (via TV/renting; I've never watched the same movie twice in a theater):

House on Haunted Hill, Jaws, Dawn of the Dead 2004, As Good As It Gets, Lord of the Rings trilogy, Back to the Future trilogy, Alien/Aliens, Matrix, I'm sure a bunch more....

DOTD '04 is close to high art in my book. I need to buy a copy....

99% of the time I do not watch a movie twice in one decade. BUT, there's a few 'sexceptions' like "Hot Blondes :censored: XXIII".

All joking aside I can only think of a few I've seen more than twice in les than a year.

"Anchorman"

"Christine"

"The Matrix"

"Star Wars, Episode 1"

"Goodfellas"

"Casino"

"The Ring"

"Fast & Furious II"

(well not watched as much as fast forwarded the DVD to the LeMans Blue Yenko Super Camaro)

"Billy Madison"

"Joe Dirt"

"Dodgeball"

"South Park Bigger, Longer, Uncut"

To be honest these comedies I watched multiple times only in a "Party" setting. Few friends over, conversations aplenty and you just want something in the background.

Clue (just funny)

Clueless (reminds me of the girls in h.s.)

Matrix

Life is Beautiful (La vita è bella)

Ferris Bueller's Day Off (when winding down a party and going to sleep)

Not Another Teen Movie (same as above)

Titanic (yeah, I know)

Poltergeist (still freaks me a little)

The Craft (love this movie)

American Pie (when this first came out, I was in tears laughing)

Night Shift (Henry Winkler and Michael Keaton)

UNBELIEVABLE....makes you want to strangle Michael Keaton. SO FUNNY.

Remember the poem that Lupe, the Puerto Rican prostitute, recited to them at the Christmas party in the morgue:

You take us off the city streets

And give us nicer men to meets

We have dresses furs and nice things to wear

And even go to Vidal Sassoon's to fix up our hair

We moved into nice apartment houses

Instead of living with the "ratones" and the mouses

Tonight, because of you, are joy is jumping

Because we are at this party instead of humping

Yes, I've seen that a handful of times as well.

Excluding all the movies I watched over and over as a young child (though Dunston Checks In gets an honorable mention), here's my list:

The Breakfast Club (3)

Top Gun (3)

Clueless (3)

Office Space (3)

Toy Story (3)

Titanic (3)

American Beauty (around 5 times)

Wet Hot American Summer (I've seen it at least 10)

cannot think of any others...

ETA: consistency, Office Space and Toy Story

I thought Office Space would be on the list.

I've seen it once...hysterically funny...especially the Middle Eastern guy...and I need to see it a few more times.

Secret Window.

I've seen it about 5 times so far because the concept is entertaining.

It's a pretty good movie, although it would have been much better if it followed Stephen King's novella "Secret Window, Secret Garden" much closer. I mean, parts are word for word, but, in the book, the ending is 100 per cent different and Shooter never really has that much of a personal appearance execpt on one or two occasions.

And I guess I like it because I sort of relate to Mort Rainey in someway I don't even get...probably because I plan on writing crap for a living, yes, and I already consider myself to be somewhat of a freelance writer (although none of the $h! I call a short story I kick my Converses in have never been printed...and probably never will be) and never want to be accused of plagarism under any condition.

Add to that...

Harold & Kumar Go To White Castle

Euro Trip

Misery

The Waterboy

Vanishing Point

Vanishing Point - two words.

Another two words: "pointy" titties.

See Vanishing Point and you will know what I mean.

I've only seen it once but that's all I remember: the car (Mopar garbage) and what I wrote above.

Umm, I've seen Clerks 5 or 6 times, because all my friends say I act like Randal and want to see it with me. After that, there aren't too many movies that i watch fanatically. Donnie Darko's my favorite movie, and I've only seen it 3 times. I haven't really wanted to watch movies over and over again since I was a kid.

What kind of car does Candy drive in that movie... it's a big ol' American boat, I remember that much...

It's been a looong time since I've seen that movie, but it was something like a '76 Mercury Grand Marquis 2dr in typical '70s brown, I think...
