JAGUAR LAND ROVER HELPS TATA POST 36% SALES GAIN

By Andrew Ganz

Tata Motors’ acquisition of Jaguar and Land Rover from Ford appears to be paying off – the two brands have seen an impressive surge in demand that, combined with Tata’s domestic Indian-market vehicles, helped increase overall sales 36 percent in July.

Jaguar sold 5,676 vehicles globally in June, while Land Rover sold 13,710 SUVs. Those numbers represent a 26 percent increase in year-over-year July sales for Jaguar and a 31 percent boost for Land Rover.

Overall Tata Motors sales – including its two British units – increased 36 percent to 90,646 vehicles. Of Tata’s July sales, 40,576 were commercial trucks and buses, while 50,070 were passenger cars including Land Rover and Jaguar vehicles.
