Oprah Hugs GM, Gives Away Chevrolet Traverse?

You might have heard of the Oprah Winfrey Show--or maybe you've just heard Oprah launch one of her verbal howitzers from clear across Lake Michigan: "Today we've got Tom CROOOOOOOOOOOZE!"

Oprah's final season of hour-long broadcast TV starts today, and for the kick-off of the 25th and final season for the award-winning show there's a rumor circulating that Oprah will repeat one of her biggest stunts ever.

Back in 2004, you'll recall, Oprah hooked up with GM to gave away a Pontiac G6 to each member of the audience on the show that day. Now word has gotten out that Oprah will be doing the same giveaway again, possibly today, only this time with a Chevrolet Traverse. Promotional commercials for today's show have shown a Traverse being driven on stage, which lends a little credence to these rumors.

This product placement is said to be in conjunction with a new marketing campaign that will start for the Traverse. The Traverse has been on the market since 2008, and needs a marketing boost as new versions of the Ford Explorer, Jeep Grand Cherokee and Dodge Durango hit showrooms.

We'll keep you posted if Oprah goes totally nuts today and mistakenly gives away GM instead of a fleet of cars. It's a long shot, but she probably could afford to do both. And just for fun, Debra Wilson does Oprah on MadTV below. You're welcome.
