2011 Hyundai Genesis Coupe R-Spec Priced From $24,500

September 14th, 2010

As Hyundai attemps to scale the heights of the luxury sector with the new 2011 Equus full-size sedan, it's also still pushing in the sports car arena with its Genesis Coupe. The 2011 model sees some shuffles in the trim levels, and today we finally get pricing for the R-Spec, in both 2.0T and 3.8 configurations.

The 2.0T R Spec, powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline four-banger rated at 210 horsepower, starts at $24,500. The bigger brother 3.8 R Spec, powered by a 3.8-liter V-6 engine rated at 306 horsepower, starts at $26,750. Both are available only with a six-speed manual transmission.

Packing more punch than just about any other car in its price range, and doing it with rear-wheel drive (as opposed to the more popular wrong-wheel at this price point), the 2011 Hyundai Genesis Coupe is a great value buy. The R Spec trim in particular is the model for the enthusiast, taking the performance gear from the Track model and stripping out the unnecessary (and heavy) convenience and comfort features. The net result? A savings of 68 pounds and $4,000.

Hyundai announces pricing for 2011 Genesis Coupe R-Spec

Hyundai has provided pricing on its 2011 Genesis Coupe-R Spec, and has giveth and taketh away when it comes to features and price. Starting at $26,750 (plus $800 freight), the 3.8-liter V6 with a manual transmission is the same price as the 2.0-liter four-cylinder in Premium trim, making it the least expensive V6 in the range.

At $4,000 dollars less than the 3.8 Track with a manual, and 68 pounds lighter, you still get the track suspension, Brembos, Torsen LSD and 19-inchers, and forsake the auto headlights, cruise control, sunroof, rear spoiler, metalgrain accents outside and chrome bits inside. Increased tunability comes from the front strut camber adjustment bolts, and the whole package gets wrapped in one of four colors. Follow the jump for all the details, along with full-line pricing.

HYUNDAI ANNOUNCES 2011 GENESIS COUPE R-SPEC PRICING

FOUNTAIN VALLEY, Calif., 09/14/2010 - The Hyundai Genesis Coupe 3.8 R-Spec priced at $26,750 will arrive at dealerships across the country this fall. R-Spec takes the core performance equipment from the 3.8 Track model and eliminates non-essential convenience equipment to reduce its weight by 68 pounds and price by $4,000. The 3.8 R-Spec allows enthusiasts to use that $4,000 to tune their own car to their desired specifications.

The 3.8 R-Spec is now the most affordable 3.8-liter V6 model in the Genesis Coupe lineup. R-Spec performance features include track-tuned suspension, 19-inch gunmetal-finish alloy wheels with performance summer tires, Brembo® braking system, Torsen® limited-slip differential and R-Spec badging. To achieve the $4,000 savings R-Spec 3.8 eliminates metalgrain accents, automatic headlights, cruise control and chrome interior accents. Shoppers will not find a sunroof or rear spoiler on an R-Spec. In a special nod to tuners, R-Spec will also receive a set of front strut camber adjustment bolts (dealer installation required) to further enhance initial turn-in and handling response. Appropriately, the 3.8 R-Spec will be available in four exterior colors most common among international racing teams: Karussell White, Bathurst Black, Interlagos Yellow and Tsukuba Red. Hyundai Releases Pricing for its 2011 Genesis Coupe Lineup, Including New 3.8 R-Spec

WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 15, 2010

Hyundai has decided it's time to share its 2011 Genesis Coupe pricing with the masses. With a few mild upgrades for 2011, including more softness on the inside, the Genesis Coupe lineup gains some extra cred in the form of a new entry-level R-Spec 3.8.

The R-Spec 3.8 comes equipped with 306-horsepower V6 connected to a 6-speed manual gearbox, and its suspension has been "sport-tuned" to handle putting its 266 lb-ft to the ground through the rear wheels. For all the extra specs, check out our previous post here. If you're not keen on that, all you need to know is that it's the cheapest V6 rear-wheel drive Hyundai option out there and has lost 68 pounds of flab in getting to that point.

According to Hyundai, the base V6 model can also be optioned with dealer-installed front camber-adjustment bolts and only be available in white, black, yellow, and red.

The 3.8 R-Spec joins the middle of the lineup as the new entry-level V6 model, starting at $26,750 (about €20,800). For comparison, the base 2011 Genesis Coupe with a 6-speed and a 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder will start at $22,250 (around €17,300), and the top-end 3.8 Track model with an automatic begins adding options at $32,250.
