Holden Redlines its V-Series performance offerings

by Jonathon Ramsey (RSS feed) on Sep 15th 2010 at 1:01PM

The five new kings in the Holden range wear Redline badges, with the Aussie arm of General Motors introducing new versions of the Series II Calais V-Series sedan and Sportwagon, along with the SS V-Series sedan, Sportwagon and Ute. Six-liter, Flexfuel V8s power them all, with the sedans getting the additional benefit of the FE3 Super Sports Performance Suspension and a chrome window surround. Otherwise each wears Brembo brakes, forged 19-inch with low-profile tyres, and all but the ute get a rearview camera. Holden ups the ante with Redline edition

10.09.2010 - Holden has put more performance polish on its sports luxury V-Series badge with the launch of five stand-out Redline Editions.

The Redline Edition Calais V-Series and SS V-Series sedan, Sportwagon and Ute will take up top positions in Holden's updated VE Series II range, to be launched later this month.

Intended for enthusiast drivers, Redline Edition models offer high-level braking and sports handling capabilities to match their powerful 6.0-litre V8 credentials.

Advanced chassis dynamics come courtesy of specialist Holden engineers, who developed a track-inspired FE3 super sports suspension set-up* to complement the extra stopping power of four-piston Brembo high performance front brakes.

The Redline Edition range is further distinguished by exclusive forged and polished 19-inch alloy wheels, matched to low profile tyres.

Holden also raises the bar with the inclusion of full colour mapping satellite navigation and a rear camera** as standard equipment in V-Series models, which feature the new multimedia touch screen Holden-iQ system and smart interior treatments.

All Redline Editions are compatible with bio-ethanol, also known as E85, an emission-reducing 'fuel of the future' that already powers V8 Supercars.

Holden Executive Director of Sales, Marketing and Aftersales John Elsworth said the Redline Edition introduced added excitement to the company's high-feature luxury performance range.

"We know the performance enthusiasts who drive Holden sports vehicles enjoy the way the engine performs with the exhilarating V8 engine performance of our sport models," Mr Elsworth said.

"We know that their interest goes beyond straight-line power and torque though. They're looking for a satisfying overall driving experience with superior chassis dynamics.

"With the Redline Edition, we set out to improve that experience for them, to provide the ultimate sports ride by introducing features we know they'll value the most - track-inspired handling for great road connection and control combined with awesome stopping power.

Holden Redline And Maloo R8 LE: More Thunder From Down Under

Australia continues to punish us for the poor box office performance of Crocodile Dundee in Los Angeles by debuting the new Redline hi-po Commodore trim and a wild-looking SV R8 Maloo Limited Edition ute. Crikey.

For just $2,300 on top of the money you put down for one of the many Commodore SS-V variants (Ute, Sportwagon, Calais, Sedan), Holden will throw in larger Brembo brakes, low-profile performance tires wrapped around new alloy wheels, and a revised sport suspension. And no, you won't get a Saturn.

If that's not enough for you, the Holden Special Vehicles arm of GM's Aussie brand will offer a special edition of the HSV Maloo R8 designed to commemorate 20 years of the HSV Maloo Ute. The obvious upgrades are limited to the wild body kit, 20-inch black alloy wheels, and a new exhaust. Inside, they've added in all the electronics they've got including a blind zone alert, rear park assist, and SAT nav.

Maybe we should have taken Yahoo Serious more seriously.
