HYUNDAI ON PACE FOR 'ALL-TIME RECORD' SEPTEMBER

By Drew Johnson

Thanks to brisk sales of its Tucson crossover and Sonata mid-size sedan, Hyundai may set an “all-time record” for September sales this month, the company’s U.S. CEO revealed on Thursday.

John Krafcik, Hyundai’s U.S. CEO, told Bloomberg in a recent interview that September deliveries “looks fantastic” for Hyundai, and will likely set a sales record for the automaker. “The industry looks decent -- I wouldn’t say great -- but I think we’re going to be fine,” Krafcik said.

Through the first eight months of the year, Hyundai has seen its U.S. sales increase 17 percent. That’s well above the market average, which has increased at a more modest rate of 8.4 percent.

Krafcik added that Hyundai is on pace to meet its long-time target of 500,000 U.S. sales.
