Nissan combines marketing, communications

Nissan Motor Co. is combining marketing and communications functions under one operation, with the aim of strengthening and defining the company's Nissan and Infiniti brands.

Andy Palmer, senior vice president of global planning and program management, will be in charge of the global marketing communications organization.

Simon Sproule, a former Nissan spokesman who now heads communications for the Renault-Nissan Alliance, will rejoin Nissan as vice president of the global marketing communications team, reporting to Palmer.

Junichi Endo, senior vice president of Nissan's global sales and marketing, will lead the global sales, after-sales and customer experience teams. Shiro Nakamura, Nissan senior vice president and chief creative officer, will add the role of brands champion, reporting to CEO Carlos Ghosn.

The changes will take effect on Oct. 1.

A similar reorganization, combining marketing and communications, is taking place at Nissan's French alliance partner, Paris-based Renault SA.
