JEEP'S OFF ROAD TRAILERS MAKE SHOW DEBUT [LIVE IMAGE UPDATE]

LIVE IMAGESJEEP TRAILERS

By Andrew Ganz

Understanding that many Wrangler buyers also want off road utility and camping trailers, Jeep recently took the wraps off of a new line of Mopar-designed camper trailers. The trailers made their first auto show outing today at the State Fair of Texas in Dallas - and now we have a series of live images.

The trailers have been designed for off road use and they feature 17-inch aluminum Jeep Wrangler Rubicon alloy wheels wrapped in off road tires, as well as fender flares, tail lamps and other trim items scavenged from Jeep parts bins. The trailers will be available for order beginning next month from Jeep dealers across the country.

For $9,995, the entry-level Trail Edition camper features a lightweight tubular aluminum construction, BFGoodrich Mud-Terrain tires, 12 inches of ground clearance and a torsion bar and trailing arm suspension designed to maximize off road articulation. The trailer makes use of diamond plate aluminum on heavy wear areas to prevent off road damage and it also uses the material for its unfolding top. It features a sofa that folds out to become a queen-size bed and it includes a built-in cabinet and a 110 volt power inverter.

Extreme off roaders can option up to the $11,995 Extreme Trail camper, which adds 35-inch BFG Mud-Terrain tires, diamond-plated black fenders and a full underbody skid plate. The trailer's suspension sits high enough to accommodate 37-inch tires for serious off road use.
