The 2011 Acura TSX Sport Wagon arrives in showrooms soon wearing a base price tag of $30,960, not including destination charges.

The Sport Wagon shares most of its basics with the TSX sedan, which showed up to this year's 2010 Los Angeles auto show with some new spiffs of its own. But while the TSX sedan has an entry price of $29,610, the TSX Sport Wagon is $1,350 higher--which roughly accounts for the wagon's standard five-speed automatic transmission and the included shift paddles, which are an option on the four-door.

The four-cylinder-only TSX Sport Wagon tops out at 201 horsepower from its 2.4-liter engine. The powerplant gives it an EPA-rated 22/30 mpg fuel economy rating.

With its new backpack grafted on the rear end, the TSX Sport Wagon offers up enough space for golf clubs, thanks for removable side panels in the cargo area, says Acura. There's also a set of under-floor cargo bins for additional stowage. In all, the wagon has 31 cubic feet of space behind the rear seats.

Standard features on the wagon include a USB port and iPod/iPhone integration; satellite radio; Bluetooth; leather seats, with heating on the front buckets; a sunroof; and roof rails. Opt up to the $34,610 TSX Sport Wagon with the Technology Package, and more features are bundled in, including navigation with voice controls and real-time traffic; a rearview camera; a15GB music hard drive and 415 watts of speaker power; and a power remote-operated tailgate.

Acura says the TSX Sport Wagon is a natural competitor for the likes of the Audi A4 Avant, the BMW 328i Sport Wagon, and the Volvo V50 T5. We'll be back this week to confirm or deny, when we bring you our first drive.

2011 Acura TSX Sport Wagon priced from $30,960

by Steven J. Ewing (RSS feed) on Dec 7th 2010 at 3:58PM

tsx630.jpg

During a product briefing today, Acura executives revealed that the 2011 TSX Sport Wagon will be priced from $30,960 (not including $860 for destination) when it goes on sale in just a few weeks. This represents a price increase of $1,350 versus the slightly refreshed 2011 TSX sedan that recently debuted at the Los Angeles Auto Show.

All TSX Sport Wagons come standard with a leather-trimmed interior, premium seven-speaker sound system, XM radio, USB audio with iPod integration, Bluetooth connectivity and a power moonroof. For an extra $3,650 you can opt for the TSX Technology Package, which adds sat-nav with voice recognition and rear-view camera, an ELS surround audio system, GPS-linked solar-sensing climate control and a power liftgate out back.

The only engine available in the Sport Wagon is the TSX's 2.4-liter inline-four, mated exclusively to a five-speed automatic transmission (a six-speed manual is available on the sedan). 201 horsepower is perfectly adequate for the Sport Wagon, but we're curious as to why Acura felt it necessary to leave the sedan's 280-hp V6 mill out of the mix. We'll have the full report of how the TSX Sport Wagon fares out on the road in the coming weeks, so stay tuned.

Honda's Acura updates TSX, offers wagon version

04:55 AM

Honda's Acura has given its TSX a few new tweaks on the outside and a new sticker price on the window for 2011.

The sedan starts at 29,610.

The changes include a quieter cabin and improvements in the two engines, a 2.4-liter four-cylinder and a 3.5-liter V-6. They deliver one mile-per-gallon better mileage, now 22 mpg in the city and 26 on the highway.

The TSX will also come as a $30,960 wagon, which Acura is pitching as an alternative to an SUV:

"The all-new TSX Sport Wagon is a smart alternative for those needing added utility," said Jeff Conrad, vice president of Acura sales.

On the outside, all TSX models receive a new front fascia, revised chin spoiler, new fog light garnish assembly and an updated grille. The updated front end teams with new underbody panels to improve aerodynamics. At the rear, there are revised taillights and a rear license plate "garnish."

Inside, the center console was revised and -- prepare yourself -- there is an "updated parking brake handle."

The wagon features four hidden compartments for out-of-sight storage.

  • Chevy Estimated Range for Silverado EV Work Truck Raised to 450 miles

When Chevrolet initially took the wraps off the Silverado EV last year, GM had estimated up to a 400 mile range based on its own calculations.  As the Silverado EV has made its way through development, it went for EPA certification and came back with 50 miles more than GM's estimate.  With this new EPA certification, the Silverado EV has an over 100-mile advantage over its only on-sale competitor the F-150 Lightning Extended Range (320 miles). All New 2024 Toyota Tacoma Yearns For Adventure

The Toyota Tacoma has been the best-selling mid-size pickup in the U.S. for nearly 20 years. Holding such an important place in the lineup, Toyota has been very conservative with updates in the past.  The outgoing generation ran for a full 7 years, but even that was based on a platform that dates all the way back to 2004.  For 2024, the Tacoma sheds the old platform entirely and joins the Tundra and Sequoia on Toyota's new TNGA-F global truck platform.  The 2024 Tacoma is the latest (and final)

The Ford Ranger Raptor Finally Comes to the US

After years of being forbidden fruit offered only in overseas markets, Ford has finally deemed the Ranger Raptor worthy enough to bring to the U.S. The biggest reason for the U.S. not getting the prior version was its standard diesel power and the inability of the platform to take a sizable V6 engine. When Ford redesigned the 2024 Ranger (read more about the 2024 Ford Ranger here), they made sure to alter the engine bay and chassis to accommodate a V6. Powering the Ranger Raptor is a 3.0-li
