Over the course of the year Aston Martin released a string of special edition models including the V12 Vantage Carbon Black, DBS Carbon Black, DBS UB2010 and V8 Vantage N420. Now, as we approach the end of 2010, the British marque has announced three more special edition models, all based on the DB9 and designed to cater for individual tastes across the world.

This attention to individual tailoring began in February when production of the Carbon Black editions began, followed in March with a Works Tailored commission made by Aston Martin to celebrate CEO Dr. Ulrich Bez’s tenth anniversary at the helm. Some of the unique elements we saw applied to Aston Martin’s cars included special metallic leather and individual badging.

The new DB9 special editions follow this same path, coming in Carbon Black, Morning Frost and Quantum Silver specifications, the latter featuring the same silver paint as the DBS that starred in the last James Bond movie, Quantum of Solace.

Some of the cars’ elements include a full black interior and special piano black trim on the center console and door handles.

Both the DB9 Carbon Black and Quantum Silver also feature the six-speed Touchtronic II automatic transmission, a sports exhaust and unique 19 inch forged wheels finished in glossy black. They also get black grilles, graphite tail pipes, perforated seat inners, semi-aniline leather roof lining, coarse silver stitching and real polished glass switchgear.

The DB9 Morning Frost also benefits from the Touchtronic II transmission mounted on the transaxle giving the car perfect 50:50 weight balance. It also gets 19 inch wheels but in a silver finish and with silver brake calipers, magnum silver grilles, and metallic bronze leather headlining with perforated seat inners.

The final touch is a custom door sill etched with either “Morning Frost”, “Carbon Black” or “Quantum Silver.”

The cars are on sale now through Aston Martin’s global dealer network.

Aston Martin finishes year with trio of DB9 specials

It doesn't take much to crank out a new special edition every once in a while, but Aston Martin has proven itself particularly adept at it. Over the course of the 2010 calendar year, the British automaker has offered up the V12 Vantage and DBS Carbon Black, V8 Vantage N420 and DBS UB2010 (commemorating Dr. Ulrich Bez's ten years at the head of the company). But before the year draws to a close, Gaydon has not one, not two, but three new special editions.

The latest special Astons are based on the DB9 – packing the usual 470-hp 6.0-liter V12 mated to a six-speed automatic gearbox – and are available around the world in either coupe or Volante convertible body-styles. All three feature unique paint jobs, special 19-inch wheels, piano black veneers in the cabin and custom door-sill plates announcing the edition's name.

The DB9 Morning Frost differentiates itself with pearlescent white paint, silver brake calipers, and metallic bronze leather interior, while the DB9 Carbon Black (like the Vantage and DBS editions of the same) and the Quantum Silver editions – the former in black and the latter in the same shade of silver portrayed in the latest Bond movies – also get a sports exhaust, leather roof lining and glass switchgear. You can read more about 'em in the press release after the jump, accompanied by the high-resolution images in the gallery below.

ASTON MARTIN CELEBRATES 2010 – 'THE YEAR OF THE SPECIALS'

Gaydon, 22 December 2010. In 2010, Aston Martin celebrated its product line-up demonstrating its ability to react quickly to customer demands and to create tailor-fit sports cars. Aston Martin is agile as a small volume manufacturer and this year has created: V12 Vantage Carbon Black, DBS Carbon Black, DBS UB2010, V8 Vantage N420 and now new DB9 offerings will cater for individual tastes across the world.

This attention to individual tailoring began in February when production of the Carbon Black editions began, followed in March with a Works Tailored commission made by Aston Martin to celebrate CEO, Dr. Ulrich Bez's tenth anniversary at the helm of the marque in creating 40 limited edition UB-2010 DBSs. The unique specification includes metallic leather with a woven leather seat insert. The car bears the signature of Dr. Bez, who is personally signing-off each example.

In July, Aston Martin announced the V8 Vantage N420 limited edition; a race inspired version of the V8 Vantage celebrating the marque's close links with the famous Nürburgring Nordschleife where the development of all Aston Martins takes place, and where each year, multiple Vantage entries compete at the Nürburgring 24 hour race.

The new DB9 editions offer three juxtaposed options; the Morning Frost luxury specification gives the DB9 an extra sense of sophistication resplendent in a pearlescent white exterior with a befitting metallic bronze leather interior. In contrast, the two menacing sport specifications take advantage of the special edition Carbon Black paint and Quantum Silver made famous by the DBS featured in the last James Bond movie, Quantum of Solace. The exterior finishes perfectly compliment the Obsidian Black interior along with a highly polished Piano Black centre console and interior door handles.

Both the DB9 Carbon Black and Quantum Silver also feature the six-speed Touchtronic II automatic transmission, a re-mapped sports exhaust providing an even more evocative sound when driving spiritedly and unique 19" 10 spoke forged gloss black painted diamond-turned wheels. Black grilles, graphite tail pipes, perforated seat inners, semi-aniline leather roof lining, coarse silver stitching and real polished glass switchgear complete the sport specification.

The DB9 Morning Frost also benefits from the Touchtronic II transmission mounted on the transaxle giving the car perfect 50:50 weight balance. 19" 10 spoke silver diamond-turned wheels, silver brake calipers, magnum silver grilles, and metallic bronze leather headlining with perforated seat inners along with Piano Black centre console and door grabs create a sophisticated ambiance.

The three editions are bestowed with a unique laser etched sill plaque depicting the famous wings insignia along with "Morning Frost", "Carbon Black" or "Quantum Silver."

These special editions are available to order now from Aston Martin's global dealership network.

  • Chevy Estimated Range for Silverado EV Work Truck Raised to 450 miles

When Chevrolet initially took the wraps off the Silverado EV last year, GM had estimated up to a 400 mile range based on its own calculations.  As the Silverado EV has made its way through development, it went for EPA certification and came back with 50 miles more than GM's estimate.  With this new EPA certification, the Silverado EV has an over 100-mile advantage over its only on-sale competitor the F-150 Lightning Extended Range (320 miles). All New 2024 Toyota Tacoma Yearns For Adventure

The Toyota Tacoma has been the best-selling mid-size pickup in the U.S. for nearly 20 years. Holding such an important place in the lineup, Toyota has been very conservative with updates in the past.  The outgoing generation ran for a full 7 years, but even that was based on a platform that dates all the way back to 2004.  For 2024, the Tacoma sheds the old platform entirely and joins the Tundra and Sequoia on Toyota's new TNGA-F global truck platform.  The 2024 Tacoma is the latest (and final)

The Ford Ranger Raptor Finally Comes to the US

After years of being forbidden fruit offered only in overseas markets, Ford has finally deemed the Ranger Raptor worthy enough to bring to the U.S. The biggest reason for the U.S. not getting the prior version was its standard diesel power and the inability of the platform to take a sizable V6 engine. When Ford redesigned the 2024 Ranger (read more about the 2024 Ford Ranger here), they made sure to alter the engine bay and chassis to accommodate a V6. Powering the Ranger Raptor is a 3.0-li
