Duratec 35 likely to put out more power

Recommended Posts

Straight from a BON post:

Good Evening,

I've just learned that the Ford Edge and Lincoln MKX with the new 3.5L V6 will launch with 265hp, rather than the quoted 250hp.

I thought I'd pass this good news along.

Gents,

Allow me to clarify: 265hp, regular gas. Hold your heads high, Ford fans.

I work on the program, so I'm privy to interesting bits of information that float around...

That's a welcome improvement. 250 HP from that engine was a major disappointment considering how long we've been waiting for it.

thanks Mustang! One of the reasons I leased a 500 now was that hopefully it would be a hassle free way to segway into the duratec 35 and new 6 speed version when it comes out.

i was concerned the 250 was not keeping pace and so its good to see that Ford is mindful of what the competition is doing.

in addition to providing some much needed CAJONES, i hope this powertrain switch gets rid of the coarseness and buzziness and tranny indecision. It had better come with a manumatic.

If i was pleased with my 500 now, it might be possible for me to move into an 08 with the duratec 35, and switch leases early.....hopefully without taking it in the arse.

i hope they quicken the steering too.

Yes wait and see if they do the SAE certification. But good news all the same. Ford needs some serious upgrades to their engines and if this is true they are on the way.
