Audi Kicks Off Ambitious Consumer Test-Drive Event

Date posted: 04-19-2006

AUBURN HILLS, Mich. — Audi of America will roll out a premium test-drive tour in late April that puts consumers behind the wheel of its full U.S. lineup and competitor vehicles, including the Q7 SUV and the new 2007 RS4, it said on Tuesday. The event, called Streets of Tomorrow, will kick off in New York City at Belmont Park and in San Diego at the Four Seasons Aviara resort on April 29.

The program starts with a street drive of the Q7 and ends at an Audi circuit featuring two different courses: the quattro course and the performance course. The quattro course includes acceleration, slalom and evasive maneuvering. The timed performance course is set up to show off the RS4. Interested participants must register in advance online at the Streets of Tomorrow Web site. Drivers must be over age 25 with a valid license. Audi says its guests will work with a concierge to design a personalized program, selecting the non-driving sessions they wish to attend before and after their test drives. Non-driving events include gourmet cooking demonstrations and lectures on exotic travel destinations.

The rest of the tour includes stops in Chicago and Los Angeles, May 6-7; Philadelphia and San Francisco, May 13-14; Atlanta and Seattle, May 20-21; Miami, May 27-28; and Dallas, June 3-4.

What this means to you: A whole lot more interesting than a 10-minute test drive at the dealership.

Damn, you have to be 25! At the ASIM you only have to be 18. Argg... it might actually be worth the trip to Chicago to drive the RS4 except that I can't drive and it's the same day as Prom.
