Alfa Romeo 4C Gets A Pricetag For The U.S. :Comments

Recommended Posts

Alfa Romeo has announced the pricing and some specifications for the U.S. spec 4C. The model when it arrives later this year to the eighty-six Alfa Romeo dealers will have a base pricetag of $55,195 (includes a $1,295 destination charge). Differences between the European and U.S.-spec 4Cs include new headlights and the addition of 342 more pounds. The weight increase is due to the addition of aluminum inserts in the carbon fiber frame to help the 4C meet federal crash test regulations, and other safety equipment.

Now the first 500 4Cs entering the U.S. marketplace will be the Launch Edition models which come equipped with new suspension tuning, racing exhaust, staggered 18-inch (front) and 19-inch (rear) forged wheels painted in Matte Black, carbon fiber rear spoiler and mirror caps, and a number of interior enhancements. The 4C Launch Edition will start at $69,695 (includes destination).

This will get a select group excited and sell these models, but with their history of poor reliability, they will not be able to grow this name at all. DOA, they need to merge Alfa, Maserati and Ferrari into one product line.

Porsche Cayman S is an infinitely better car and starts 5k lower. Like the looks of the Alfa, but at 70 K...I would take a C7 or an Evora.

Well, maybe alfa & fiat.

This may happen. Scuttlebutt in the Miata community is now the roadster co developed between Mazda and Alfa will be marketed in the US as a Fiat...perhaps under the Abarth moniker.

I am trying to understand the logic behind this car. It is sexy that is what people call it, it is fun at least with reservations, it makes horsepower at least more than a Miata, or Su-Toy twins. But it excels in nothing and is not a competent all-rounder.

Cayman and Miata are more engaging, M4 and Corvette are more powerful and have higher limits. Mustang is more beautiful than this. Lotuses have much more fun factor. There are so many competitors that are better, yet the sum of parts of this car is no better than those competitors. The only thing going for this is the emotions of the journalists who call it a hit.

Fiat should downgrade Maserati to compete with Germans and kill Alpha.

Most people in Italy cannot even afford what this car will cost.Alpha should die, bad reputation and just use the body on a Chrysler auto.

For the past few years, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles CEO Sergio Marchionne holds a conference with journalists and analysts at the Detroit Auto Show, taking various questions. According to Motor Trend, Marchionne revealed that more crossovers are on the way for Alfa Romeo, Chrysler, and Ferrari.
Alfa's Three-Row Crossover: Sergio Marchionne confirmed that Alfa Romeo is working on a larger SUV to sit above the Stelvio. He says this model is very important for the brand. As we reported towards the end of December, the model would use a stretched version of the Stelvio's platform and possibly feature a mild-hybrid powertrain.
Chrysler's Pacifica-based crossover: It seems the platform that underpins the Pacifica will be used for a long-promised crossover. The model was in the previous five-year plan for FCA, but was pushed back. The model will be in the next five-year plan (expected to be shown sometime later this year) and could go into production within the next 18 months.
Ferrari SUV: Progress on Ferrari's upcoming SUV is moving quite quickly as Marchionne said it would be ready by the end of 2019 or early 2020. At the moment, the Italian automaker has mock-up bodies of the SUV, but nothing driveable.
“I have seen the car when I was in Europe. It’s not finished. It’s going to be Ferrari. It will drive like a Ferrari or I’ll be taken to the shed. But it looks good,” said Marchionne.
      Other bits from Marchionne:
When asked about a performance electric vehicle, Marchionne said, “Ferrari has looked at this forever, and if there is an electric supercar to be built, Ferrari will do it,” FCA hasn't "found an economic way to get this done” when asked if there was the chance of a midsize Ram pickup. Wrangler Pickup is expected to debut towards the end of 2019 Marchionne is planning to retire as FCA CEO next year The most pressing question asked during the session? Where does he buy his sweaters? Answer: Online. Source: Motor Trend

The compact crossover arena has become highly competitive in the past couple of years and automakers are pulling all of the stops to draw customers into their showroom. Volkswagen is no exception.
According to Automotive News, Volkswagen told its dealers that it would be cutting the price on several trims of Tiguan effective immediately. The price cuts are as followed,
Tiguan S: $600 Tiguan SE: $2,180 Tiguan SEL: $1,460 This brings the base prices down to $25,495 for the S, $27,650 for the SE, and $31,990 for the SEL. Note: These prices are for the FWD models, AWD models will see the same price cut.
Hinrich Woebcken, CEO of Volkswagen of America told Automotive News that he wants to see Volkswagen become "more of a mass-market automaker in the U.S." To do this, Volkswagen needed to price their vehicles more competitively. Hence why the Tiguan saw a price cut.
