Mini introduces Clubman Vision Gran Turismo concept

Mini has thrown its hat into the “Gran Turismo 6” ring with its own Vision GT concept based on the Mini Clubman. On the 15th anniversary of the series, “GT6” creator Kazunori Yamauchi asked automakers to create a perfect, no-holds-barred race car for the popular simulator. So far about a dozen have acquiesced.

The Mini Clubman Vision GT has a 395-hp engine and a six-speed sequential transmission. The concept is all-wheel drive with fully adjustable dampers in the front and rear. Top speed can be as high as 180 mph, depending on gearing.

“The Mini Clubman Vision Gran Turismo is in fact the second cooperation in connection with ‘Gran Turismo 6,’” said head of BMW group design Adrian van Hooydonk. “I very much appreciate the opportunity to collaborate with Kazunori-San because he is just as interested in automobile design and performance as we are at the BMW Group.”

That is pointless.  Why put that much power in a Mini?  More power doesn't just make things better.  400 hp in a Corvette is fantastic, 400 hp in a Toyota Corolla would be disaster.  It looks like they are trying to make a Mini rally car or something.

This is just a concept car that is not likely to be seen on the streets, although a lot of people would want to see it on the streets. The car is a concept fetured in the latest Gran Turismo game.

Yes you are right more power doesn't make things better. Yet you were okay with CLA45 AMG, when you harped about how it beat the CTS V-Sport in C&D's LL.
