Ford News: Rumorpile: Focus RS500 Is A Matter Is Will They or Won't They

There have been spy shots floating around for past few months showing a hotted-up version of the Focus RS, leading many to believe that Ford is working on a new RS500. But a report from Autocar says Ford hasn't made a final decision on it.

According to a source, the RS500 is “not genuinely green-lighted, but the desire exists to have a star in the RS and ST range”. The stumbling blocks are whether or not a financial case can be made and if the factory line in Cologne, Germany.

Autocar speculates that the new RS500 will have a similar performance bump to the previous model. The last-generation RS500 featured 345 horsepower, an increase of 15 percent over the standard RS. If Ford was to apply 15 percent increase for the new RS500, then it could produce 396 horsepower.

If the RS500 gets the green light, it would likely be launched next summer as a swan song for the current Focus.

How about getting the current one on the lots and streets as I have not seen a one and dealers cannot seem to order them. Get the RS onto lots in quantity before trying to have a higher level version.

So what dfelt just suggested, is that Ford should not be developing any further performance variants for Focus, because he has not seen the current RS yet.

 

Does that sound about right, because I don't see anything here from Ford, only spy shots and speculations.

RS has been promised, I even stopped by multiple ford dealers and no one has them on the lot and have not been able to order them so the RS is vaporware as far as I can tell. 

 

Pretty sure many people would like to see the RS before Ford talks about an even higher performance level when they have not seemed to deliver the current one.

 

If you have seen them out and about in your area, take a picture and post it.  So far the RS is a great sounding car on paper but nothing so far has shown up.

The Focus RS is a great sounding car on pavement too!

I get what you say and love what is seen in the reviews, but the fact is you cannot find them in the dealerships nor can you order one. I do not get what FORD is doing and then to come out and say they wanna build something even higher end than the RS. Fine, but first deliver this auto in quantity to the dealerships so people can buy it.

I think that the point I was trying to make, was that I am just happy that an automaker is bring such a great product to market,  Availability of current product should have zero influence on future planning.  So just because we don't see a bunch of them yet on the street, that should not stop Ford from commenting on next steps.  Especially since Ford has NOT commented, officially, on next steps.

I've seen one a couple months ago while driving to visit my sister in Iowa. It was just outside of STL though. That sweet'n sexy blue!

      Lamborghini has reportedly begun work on a fourth model that will debut in 2021.
      Autocar reports that the model in question is a four-door sedan that could bridge the gap between their supercars and the upcoming Urus SUV. The sedan is said to be similar to the Estoque concept from 2008 with an engine up front. The model would use the MSB platform that underpins the Porsche Panamera and upcoming Bentley Continental GT.
      When asked about adding a new model after the Urus, Lamborghini’s commercial director Federico Foschini said, 
      “We must be humble. The Urus is only at the pre-production phase and, while the goal is to double sales volumes over a few years, we have yet to earn that accolade. But of course we should always be looking to grow. If we can take this first step with Urus – a huge step – then there are possibilities.” 
      But the sedan has yet to be signed off. According to the report, a faction at Lamborghini is wanting to investigate the possibility of a bespoke, carbonfiber-intensive structure that could underpin a three supercar lineup. Whether this means a new model is created the Huracán and Aventador or something a bit extreme is unclear at this time. Either way, this project is being referred to as the new Miura.
      But this means Lamborghini would be spending a fair amount of cash on the development and could cause some problems for the next Audi R8. This is due to the model sharing the platform that underpins the Huracán.
