Ford News: Deliveries of Ford GTs Will Be Running Somewhat Late

Deliveries of the Ford GT have been going since February, but various issues have caused Ford to notify owners that their GTs will be running somewhat late.

Automotive News reports that owners got a letter this week from Ford saying delivery of their GT will be pushed back due to supplier constraints and homologation testing issues.

"The craftsmanship required to build these vehicles for global markets has required that we adjust our original timing projections," the letter says.

The letter goes on to say customers will be notified with an updated "three-month projected delivery window" within the week. Ford declined to say how long the delays will be, telling Automotive News, that it "nearly completed" the ramp-up process.

According to a spokesman, Ford has delivered about 50 GTs out of the 250 models that will be built through the 2020 model year.

While I love the look of the GT and think it is an awesome auto, I have to question the business case of building over 3 years only 250 of these cars. Honestly, the Corvette beats this hands down for the money, performance and production. I see this car costing Ford more than it gains as a Halo car.

It is Friday, not going to slut shame either car maker for their choices...but I can tell you I would take a Jag F type over either the Ford GT or the Corvette.  To each his own!

Just posted by Forbes and posted on MSN, but FORD is badly fumbling the delivery of the GT and building. Interesting read.

If one ponders to cancel one's order, or actually does cancel one's order on a car of this caliber (a hand-made exotic that only a handful are to be made) for delivery delays (because of whatever reason), then one wasnt that excited for it to begin with.

This is how I sees it and so this issue is a non-story for me...

Cars of this caliber (hand-made exotics that only a handful are to be made) sometimes run into snafus like this. It is to be expected.

I dont think one would like his $500 000 Ford end up like this
