Ford News: Is this the 2020 Ford Bronco or Baby Bronco?

It seems someone at Ford wasn't paying attention and allowed some photos from their recent dealer conference to appear on a public site. Off-Road.com got their hands on some photos that were "publicly accessible part of a Ford website." The photos are from last month's dealer meeting in Las Vegas.

The key picture that everyone is talking about is the one seen above, showing a new SUV's front and side profile, and an angled shot. Off-Road originally reported this was the Bronco, but later reports from Automotive News and Motor Authority say it is the new Baby Bronco. We tend to with the latter as the photos match up with this teaser released by Ford back in March.

It certainly is drawing on the DNA from the 1960's Bronco with a square profile and round headlights - LEDs in this case. The Ford name is in block letters and sits between the headlights. As we reported in August, this new Baby Bronco will use the underpinnings of the new Ford Focus.

Unsurprisingly, Ford declined to comment on this.

Looks cool, I hope they use the Maverick name.  If it is the size of my Compass, with a modicum of off-road ability, it should do well.

My family had a Maverick, very cool 2/4 door car with a straight 6. Loved it. 

I agree it could go with using a Maverick name if it is a competitor to the Compass.

There is precedent for the Maverick name, the name was used on a small SUV in Europe in the 90s.

Wow Ford has this in mind? It’s so comically late to market, Ford is screwed if this is the best they can bring even for a Broco inspired Ute. 

 

It it just reeks of a day late and dollar short. It’s like cutting sedans was actually to save the company rather than become ever more profitable. And it’s still 9-12 months away!

Pretty sure it’s the big one...makes sense with the teaser and the camo ones driving around....

While I agree with the cars part-this done right will steal some Jeep fans ....Ford can do off road right too.....

Yeah, the orange and blue ones pictured in the linked article are probably the regular Bronco.  Reminds me of where the new Defender may be going styling wise.

I was pointed out the shadow in the background is supposedly the "real" Bronco while the "baby Bronco" is in the foreground.

Hmmm...I think that shadow is an oversized outline of a first gen Bronco.   I thought the 'baby Bronco' was the rendering in shadow in the first post (which has different headlight area openings than the orange one).

I know my source could be wrong but their sister works for Ford and was at the dealer meetings in Vegas.

Who knows. It's hard to get a sense of the size of the orange one from the photos.

I think it looks pretty small with where the rear door goes to and the size of the doors. That's obviously just speculation though.

With the two tone paint and blacked out window pillars, it looks like a squared off Mini Countryman.
