Idea for a C7

Recommended Posts

So I got inspired by NOS's pic in MrDetroitMetal's thread and had at it.

I took parts of NOS's drawing (with his permission) and then elaborated them to my own style.

Looks good, but I don't know if it's quite a C7, if anything it could be a refreshed C6. It's only been two model years. I don't think we'll see a C7 for a long time, at least 4-5 years.

Yeah, I'm with them in saying it's more of a C6.5 instead of a C7. I like the ideas, but it just isn't evolutionary enough to be a C7 IMO.

one question about the C6... is it just a minor refresh over the C5?

i mean the wheelbase changed and the overall size changed... but... how much was accually redesigned?

is the XLR on the same platform as the C5 was? or did the XLR get the C6 platform years prior to the C6 release?

One is sick to not see a difference.

Also, how does its platform really play a role? The third and fourth generation Camaros were off of the same platform to my understanding. If the platform works, run with it. Why create an entirely new platform when an already existing one is more than good enough to support such a great suspension and drivetrain as the C6's?

Nice drawing and welcome to C&G.

I'd like to see a few more touches

from 1963 and a more distinct nose.

Agreed. I guess I shouldn't have looked at a C6 pic for the right proportions, angles, etc. I might do I refresh here soon, with a VERY different front end and side profile.

A couple questions. Should I go hide-away headlights? large(C5-C6) side coves, or small coves(C2-4)? Glass rear window like on late C3s4s&5s, or hidden rear window (early C3s)? Different Z06 cues?

definitely a no to the hidden headlights... when open they ruin the fluid lines of the car... and when away they have that gross outline the screws up the appearance of the front...

maybe mine will inspire you... its heavily C3 influenced

if you want to use this and make changes to it etc... you more than welcome to

I'm in the midst of improving my "original" sketch, so it'll be up later today, if not tomorrow..

Some very ineresting ideas floating around in these

sketches & renderings. I'd love to see a semi-retro

version/adaptation of the 63-67 roll-away headlights.
