Car and Driver :The Mazda 3 Shows a Porsche-Like Obsession to the Details

Recommended Posts

oh jeez, Car and Driver is back masturbating about switchgear again, like they have over the decades.  How many times have we heard this before from them, it's such an amazing car because all the switches feel the same etc. yada,

Are we gonna have to sit and listen to them brag up this stuff for the next 5 years.

Quote

The knobs for the climate-control system, the audio volume, and the infotainment controller (Mazda calls it the Commander) all feel the same and turn with similar resistance. While the subtleties of the clicks might not be immediately apparent to customers, these small things add up to a difference. The cumulative effect is that the 3's interior exudes a quality similar to that of high-end audio equipment or cars that costs tens of thousands more

Seems like a really nice compact car, though...not the usual generic shitbox.

After arguing with SMK....I am sure you will go out and trade the Escalade for a nice new G wagon....

Would prefer the 3 to that G wagon.

Niether of us would...the point was that this is still better than overpriced German garbage.

I like some German cars. But I fully realize their limitations.

Seems the Germans are considering killing their no limits Autobahn.

how else would you sell mazdas, certainly not horsepower, or quiet cabin.  It will be interesting to see if you can get a lower end Accord 1.5 for the same price as this Mazzeda.  In that instance, even with some ugly, the Accord would be more appealing.  Generic Civics would be cheaper to acquire I am betting.

they still make the GTi?  I would look hard at one of those first too.  Civic Si might be worth spending more.

GTI and SI are both more appealing. Have thought about buying an SUV but thinking I want more of a performance car. And used mustang GT's are getting cheap.....hmmm....

CVT is pretty much automatic disqualification....no pun intended...

Wife won't drive stick anymore, and hopefully I can keep her from owning anything with a CVT.  I'm sure both of us would like a 2020 Mazda3 AWD hatch, though I would probably end up driving it more than her.
