Tesla faces federal investigation by NHTSA

Another set back for Tesla.

Tesla faces a federal investigation by NHTSA regarding what has been termed an "alarming" number of vehicle fires. In some instances, vehicles in an accident caught on fire, were extinguished, towed to an storage lot, then again caught on fire WEEKS later.

Tesla is also facing a class action lawsuit from owners over software update complaints.

These legal entanglements are on top of the 2018 FBI investigation into possible overstatement of Model 3 deliveries and any associated stock price manipulation, AND Tesla settling a lawsuit by the SEC regarding his "funding secured" tweet related to implying he would take the company private.

Worse than anything Volkswagen did.  All Volkswagen did... was build an engine that is efficient and powerful, and garnered the adoration of customers worldwide.

LOL, they also programmed it to cheat on tests.

The Legacy OEM Auto companies have done equal if not worse. Just look at what they did and what we do not know about that they did in destroying Tucker. I am sure in the pursuit of profits that Detroit auto companies have done it all to try and protect themselves from competition and have clearly cut corners in manufacturing auto's.

Nothing new here, just new technology.

Efficient? 🙄 Only in spewing 🤮 high levels of Toxic crap into the air and destroying our lungs with their rolling coal spew.

Make no mistake, VW did what they did because they were cheap. They didn't want to spend the money on Urea systems for their diesels. The diesel would have been just as efficient, but it would have been cleaner. It was all about the money for them.

Just for the record and contrary to the portrayal in the movie; the people looking to protect their interests and put pressure on Tucker were politicians, not other automakers.

True that is another side of the story, not really sure which side is true but politics and business played a major role in the death of Tucker and the dream to build a better auto.

Always special interest for sure will do what ever they can to manipulate the system.

Diesel pollutes the air.

Like...a lot.

It seems no matter how many articles Id post, a denier, a naysayer or just a person with un-phoquinging-beliavable bias would not believe and just ignore.

But its OK.

Thank the little Lord Jesus "unjust laws" exist to wipe diesels from civilian use from the face of God's Green Earth to really force change...

(awaiting a down vote)

3 people on my street all just acquired Tesla's Model 3.

Am I going to see firetrucks in my neighborhood anytime soon?

But then again, I own a Ford...Fusion...with the 1.6 liter ecoboost...

From the UK...just last year...after I googled 1.6 liter ecoboost fires. 1st thing that popped up...

https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-46180703

Yeah...

Tesla is in the shytes. Could be true. But what is FoMoCo's excuses. This is a century old car maker...

Not to pass the buck...but Tesla just suffers from the same shyte that all car makers suffer from.

NO EXCEPTION!

If we wanna just point the finger at Tesla because they evil, well, that is quite hypocritical of us, doncha think?

Emissions laws are overboard.

Some are. Some are not.

But...tell you one thing.  Even with today's cleaner cars, leave your car running in a closed environment and see how you fair and then come and tell me that emission laws are overboard.

When they affect driveability and fuel economy, they are not productive, or consumer friendly.

Catalytic converters and technology have come a long way since the 1970s. When push comes to shove...automakers WILL find a solution.  When left alone....chaos ensues.

Hell, chaos ensues when there are rules.

A famous saying in NASCAR ...Tom Petty...oops..Richard Petty, (RIP TOM)...said if you aint cheatin', you aint tryin'

THIS is regarding rules and regulations when in place and  anarchy STILL ensues.

When no laws and regulations exist, all hell breaks loose.  And this is the kind of mind set that Detroit...and Wolfsburg go by.

Not a good thing for you and me, buddy.

I read via Reuters that Tesla has settled it's lawsuit by Walmart regarding it's store rooftop installation of solar panels.  This had been done on 240 stores, and at least 7 fires had broken out.

Apparently, Walmart had accused Tesla of "widespread, systematic negligence" and ignoring prudent industry practices by relying on untrained and unsupervised personnel to install and maintain its panels, and prioritizing speed and profit over safety.
