Toyota to Boost China Training

By Ward’s Staff

WardsAuto.com, Sep 6 2005

Toyota’s Chinese training center has graduated more than 5,700 students since it opened in September 1990.

Toyota Motor Corp. inks a deal to provide ¥100 million ($913,422) to the Technical Training Center of Toyota Jin Bei in Shenyang City, Liaoning province, China, over the next three years.

Under the plan, dubbed “Sixth Technical Assistance Plan for the Technical Training Center,” the funds will go toward technical education, research trips to Japan, equipment and tools and Toyota scholarships, the auto maker says.

The training center was established in September 1990 by Toyota, the China National Automobile Industry Corp. and Shenyang Jin Bei Automotive Industry Corp. Ltd. to “develop highly skilled technical specialists for carrying out domestic automobile production.”

Toyota says more than 5,700 students have graduated from the training center in the past 15 years and now are working in China.
