This is how the 1995 Lincoln Continental offered Town Car buyers an alternative FWD V8 sedan

Was never on my radar.  So much so, that I just did a double take on the title mentioning it had a V8.  I knew it was FWD, I never knew  right up to THIS moment it had a V8.  I just listened to the video to find out it was the moduler 4.6 V8.   You learn something new everyday.   

The Towncar and the Mark VIII was what I liked from Lincoln then.  And both models were FONDLY liked.  

But in 2023, I actually like it.  Too bad I was turned off by it then.   Reflecting back as to why that was...I couldnt tell ya.  

PS: I never did, nor do I right now, equate the 1995 Continental with the Taurus.

I remember those. They always seemed to be cream colored.  As far as FWD V8s, I prefer the STS of that era.    When I was living in Ann Arbor I had a friend that was an engineer at Ford working on the ‘98 facelifted model.  Got to ride in one one winter’s night in ‘97.  
 

I remember going to the Detroit auto show in ‘95 and ‘96, 25 yr old me really wanted an STS.  I still like them.

The STS was a vastly superior product, though in terms of actual cushy comfort the Continental was probably better.  The Continental was for someone who wanted the Broughamy comfort of a TownCar or Deville, but didn't want the size.  The STS was well on the way towards pursuing German ride quality rather than traditional American ride quality.

It comes out when you drive it. Way back in the day (2000ish) when I had an '85 Continental that needed some obscure work best left to the dealer, the dealer tossed me the keys to one of these to use to get the hell out of his waiting room. It wasn't a big deal because it was a 5 year old car at the time.  Also at the time, my bf was driving his mother's oval Sable, which I would drive when it was the two of us.

Aside from the substantial power difference, they drove very similar.

I understand.

I never drove one.  I did drive once, around the block type of thing, a 1996 Taurus wagon.  Like in your situation, it was 2000ish.  An employee had one and I was curious to see how it rode.  (Nothing special.  But it did live up to my expectations...)
