  2. Short term car shopping. Again.

OK, have some guidelines in this pursuit. Again, this is for my one son to have about 110 miles from me, in upstate NY. • Would like to stay under $10K. • Cruze-size or smaller. This one is from the wife, I don't see an issue going up one notch, esp since the size classes are so damned close to each other. Have looked online at some local pre-owned stuff, nothing so far has blown my socks off.

  8. February Car Spotter

Idiots on the Pass today, 2nd weekend in a row of 24" powder dumps and this moron shows up in his FWD Audi with no chains and gets stuck. Resort folks used their F150 4x4 and pulled him out.
  9. Project INVICTA

OK, bitches. This is the official calendar mark - work on the B-59 resumed today, 02-24-18. Handed off the front Al-Fin drums to my buddy to clean up. They were turned years ago, he's going to tend to some brake surface cleanup, paint the hubs, do a tiny bit of modification to allow for aftermarket rims, and clean out the bearing areas. Spring is around the corner, and it's time to get this road whale (on it's way to) motorvating.

Some very cool and exciting changes coming. I agree with the last gen of ICE engines as you can use them for a long time and enhance via electrification.
  12. Was working on one job, private home, circa 2002. The ex-husband pulled up to talk to the x-W, had a "Desperation Red" ferrari 355 spyder. I was out in the garage making a custom dog door for her Bull Mastiff, and there were 2 'off the boat' old Italians guys there painting (in their 60s). When the guy came out & got into the car, I saw the 2 Italians watching the ferrari longingly from the garage. The guy cranks the sypder and it goes NeeNeeNeeNeeNeeNeeNeeNeeNeeNeeNeeNee and doesn't catch. One of the guys gestures toward the car and says to me in a heavy accent "Nice car, eh?" Naturally, I'm unimpressed. "Sounds like an old Chrysler!" I say back, and they scoff at me like I'm crazy. Guy cranks the ferrari again: NeeNeeNeeNeeNeeNeeNeeNeeNeeNeeNeeNee and it starts, sputtering a bit. "See?" I say to the painter, and he waves me off, like when spending $100K (or whatever) and getting old MoPar starter motor in your car is somehow acceptable. Junk.
  13. Could be collector, these rare Ferraris go up in value.

  15. During the press reveal of the Volvo V60 earlier this week, Volvo CEO Håkan Samuelsson and his colleagues took the time to answer some questions concerning the future of the Swedish brand. Road & Track jotted down some of the interesting bits from this. End of the road for Gas Engines Volvo made a surprising announcement last year with plans to electrify their entire lineup beginning in 2019. This includes mild-hybrid, plug-in hybrids, and electric vehicles. It seems this plan will also mark the end of development of gas engines. The current line of turbo and twin-charged engines represent the last new gas engines from the brand. Instead, Volvo will add more powerful electric motors to boost overall power. Down the road, Volvo hopes to follow Polestar by only offering pure EVs. Next-Gen SPA Platform to Lose Weight Volvo's current SPA modular platform isn't what you would call light. The V90 wagon can weigh as much as 4,561 pounds. The next-generation SPA platform, due out in 2021 will shed some weight. More Polestar Tuned Volvos Are Coming When Polestar was spun off to be its own brand, there were a number of people worried that it was end of the line for models like the S60/V60 Polestar. Not so according to Road & Track. A team of Polestar engineers will continue to operate in Sweden while the rest of the company sets up shop in China. They'll be tasked with making the next-generation Volvo models go fast and handle. No mention of when to expect new Polestar models or what they'll be based on. Other tidbits, The next-generation S60 sedan will begin rolling off the company's new Charleston, South Carolina assembly plant towards the end of this year. We're expecting to see Volvo debut the new model sometime before then, possibly the late summer or early fall. Volvo will also be conducting more design and R&D work in the U.S. This is partly due to the U.S. playing a crucial role in Volvo's future plans. The next-generation Sensus infotainment system, due in 2019, will be based on Google's Android smartphone OS. We hope this means a simpler user interface. Source: Road & Track View full article

Seat belts were newly mandated for '66, so they were automotively topical. Wonder what/how the other end was attached to in the car.

I'm sorry to hear about this, Dave. All of these shake ups shake us all up. Crazy stuff.

Very nerve wracking, understandably, Uncle Dave. I hope it is resolved quickly.

Dang, I'm headed toward the second major job shake up in less than a year. After being laid off last year- I've been working at the old job while searching for a new one (not another job, but a better one).Found out a few days ago that my position is disappearing and they are hoping they an transfer somewhere else. This is why I tried hard to get out of retail in general. The industry is dying pretty quickly...... Trying to think positive and not stress out....this also throws of my plan of adding another degree to my current one...

Our dollar is worth about 80 cents US these days. It was at par for about 5 years when oil prices were way up there a few years back. Those townhouses are probably worth around 900k now, maybe 1 million+ if they are luxury. Lack of supply, GTA has 1 million more people since you last visited and the interest rates have been historically low. We have a foreign buyers tax now as one of many measures to try and cool the market (they are working somewhat). We are on a 33x120 lot in the city, typical double brick craftsman that has never been fully gutted. We pay $6700 in property tax annually but it will be going up over the next few years to account for the valuation increase. .
  25. Dream Garage- Average Transaction $ Pt 2

#1 Buick Regal TourX Essence - $35,995 #2 Chrysler Pacifica Touring L - $35,995 #3 Ford Mustang GT - $35,095 #4 Jeep Wrangler JL Unlimited Sport S - $35,785 #5 Chevrolet Sonic Premium RS manual - $22,290 I would rather the Camaro SS than the Mustang but you can't get one within the price constraints and for the purposes of this exercise, I'll take the Mustang GT over the Camaro V6. I know the Sonic is an oddball choice but I have been oddly fascinated with these things lately. Not sure why.
  26. Most of these will probably never get used for what they were engineered for and instead be a conversation piece in some rich guys collection.
  27. I would imagine most people that own a Ferrari have 3-5 other cars, so they buy this for the track or for going fast on some rural road in the middle of nowhere. They probably have a Bentley for their commuter car.
