  1. G. David Felt Alternative Fuels & Propulsion writer www.CheersandGears.com TESLA PREOWNED SALE http://www.teslamotors.com/models/preowned Received this email today from Tesla for their first PreOwned sale. I was curious to see just how many and what types were available. 256 on their own preowned site and Florida leads the way with 43 listed. More surprising was that while the list was well divided between 2012, 2013 and 2014, the average for mileage was just a little over 10K miles. Then I continued to look and found 94 more tesla's for sale on the tesla motor club web site. 87 listed for sale on CarFax web site. LotPro had 7 listed. Ebay has 40 listed and AutoTrader has 322 listed and all are pretty low miles. Yes I would believe there is some duplicate listings between these sites, but the bigger shock is just how low the miles are for a car that is supposed to be the ultimate Green machine. How does one buy a 100K dollar car, only drive it less than 10K miles and 2 years later sell it. It would seem the market is not that big for pure electric auto's. Plus this many Tesla's for sale in the private side makes me think that many have over bought and then are tring to unload this luxury golf cart that cannot handle real life long distance road trips. Is it possible that Tesla's run is coming to an end as more people realize just how limited this auto is? What are your thoughts on the glut of Tesla Pre Owned EV's?
  2. I would agree with you Sean but I have to think that these companies either need to change to a more profitable model and get more diverse or they will end up loosing out and having to either go into the history books or become a niche division of some larger company. But then it already is a niche player for VW.
  3. As I said in the ATS-V Review thread.. I am seriously doubting this will happen for several reasons. 1) The LS7 will be a crate motor, but I doubt that GM wants to hand-build it for any more than special buyers who want to pony up that cash. 2) Cadillac wants its own engines.. hence the development and seemingly dive deeper into Twin Turbos 3) To the point above.. because Cadillac is trying to build numbers in other markets, particularly China, Europe and S.Amer... displacement will matter in pricing/penalties. I expect the 6.2L LT4 to also be a short lived product of at most, an engine to only be for this generation of CTS.. which is only 3 years away from a new model altogether 4) Only 500HP and 481 lbs-ft of bump. In truth.. they could simply turn up the boost on the LF4 and get 500HP and certainly more torque. Think about it... the TTV6 is only.. and I said ONLY 36 HP away for that LS7's numbers. Boost, and a less restrictive exhaust and U are there with minimal investment 5) Cadillac needs a more fleshed out line for the ATS to move product to the mainstream.. a VSport with a detuned LF3 making 360-380HP would make more sense As I said in the ATS-V Review thread.. It would ensure a special feeling when you tap the throttle. The 5.3L LS4 had a flat torque-curve as well but we won't talk about FWD V8s here. But to some the coveted Audi FWD appliances are superior to anything us lowly americans can build.
  4. Why oh Why do morons who are so afraid to drive get licenses. Driving 35 on a freeway stated as 65 is dangerous to everyone. Turning your hazard lights on does not help and you being bunched up against the steering wheel is not helping either. Get off the Fricking Highway.
  5. 1) 1908 OR 1909 was the last year I think. 2) Sport GTO 3) a - Standardization of voltage b - Radios were becoming standard and had moved to 12 volt and c - engine starters needed 12 volt to turn over bigger engines. 4) 1965? 5) 15,000 ?
  6. They could build a combo of any of those but the bigger question is quality and reliability. So far VW has never won me over due to poor fit and finish and reliability.
  7. Not a fan of the body style so I wish them well in selling it but to me it is ugly.
  8. "Eltz Castle is a medieval castle nestled in the hills above the Moselle River between Koblenz and Trier, Germany." Google is my friend. So I just dropped the image of that castle in the Google Image box...and Voila! Like magic... Id love to visit Germany one day. All of Europe actually. Great Britain, France, Italy, Germany, Hungary...ahem Monaco...(maybe a tad too rich for my blood), Austria...where Ill throw another shrimp on the Bar B... Sometimes I just crack myself up! (Ok...that joke was stolen from somewhere else...sue me!) On second thought...let me just reference it just in case...Dumb and Dumber...that joke comes from Dumb and Dumber... Ive been to Greece countless of times...but its nice to see other parts of the world, non? Most fun you could have is to be in Frankfurt for October fest which is also preceeded by their wine festival. Talk about a drinking blast of fun with amazing food. Then make sure you get to Hanover for CBET. Just bundle up as it is cold.
  9. This is my day and what now will end up being my week. Welcome to the Jungle!
  10. Taf short for Taffy? Which flavor? LOL
  11. Not necessarily, I have seen plenty of test mules where they stretched out the fenders to support a drive train truly meant for some other product but they wanted to throw off the Photo Hounds. This could be just such a test mule. Something for the CTS but they wanted to hide it so left off inner wheel well covers to test a drive train and in this case it could be the LS7 system for a new CTS-V Coupe maybe.
  12. Funny that Toyota named the truck after our twin city here in washington Tacoma and yet it does not sell that well here. People that come in wanting a 4x4 or work truck look to GM & Ford mostly, then RAM and finally Toyota. The Pacific NW is truly an American Truck market.
  13. Makes sense since the vans are mostly for service commercial use. Not as many sales as the mid truck market. GM Needs to offer these trucks in Bi-Fuel mode of CNG/Petrol
  14. Interesting, sounds like a tad better than the ES350 but not by much.Such a bland exterior / Interior even with the wood accents, still looks 1980's to me.
  15. Cannot wait for windows 10 to get here as the current build I am using is awesome. Just need the final version now.
  16. Remember, there will be plenty of time for instant gratification or self indulgence. Being in college, if you need an auto to get back and forth, then find a reliable commuter car with AC and plan to get your dream car once your out of college and working.
  17. We'll probably see the ugly Ferrari wins again.Wonder how long a company can survive on old style, stuck in the stone age.
  18. Talk about a hard car to keep clean, I assume the small gaps on the fender wraps are designed to trap air and create downward force, but over all like Buzz says, looks like a Hot Wheels car.
  19. ATS-V EV That is the radical Future!
  20. Nice, did you buy the extended warranty?
  21. Welcome, look forward to your contributions to the discussions on auto's.
  22. Cool writeup, good review. Thanks for posting.
