  1. Unique front and rear fascia, the streamlined tonneau cover and the minimalist bikini top should be your first hint that the 2016 Porsche Boxster Spyder is something special. The strongest and fastest Boxster of this generation, the new range-topping Spyder is also the lightest thanks to its "less is more" approach to tech and amenities. The Spyder jettisons the standard Boxster's power fold motors for the soft top. The new lightweight manual fabric roof is opened and closed by hand and features two fins that stretch back, snapping into the roadster's tonneau and completing the silhouette. The Spyder is only available with Porsche's six-speed manual transmission; there is no automatic option, which saves weight and should appease purists. To those same ends, the Boxster Spyder also has no navigation, no radio, no speakers and no air conditioner in its stock form. Though Porsche is quick to point out that all of these bits can be added back in at no cost to the buyer and the entire range of Boxster audio upgrades and Porsche infotainment with navigation are also available as paid options. Less weight plus more power is a formula that equals the fastest Boxster yet. The Spyder takes just 4.3 seconds to hit 60 mph from a stop and goes on to a top track speed of 180 mph. With brakes taken from a 911 Carrera S, the lighter Boxster should also shave off that speed with better efficiency. The new 2016 Boxster Spyder will blast into the US market in October, but preorders are happening now at Porsche dealerships for the $82,100 range-topping Porsche roadster. 2. If you're like us, and have been drooling over the Volkswagen Golf R 400 concept since it was first unveiled in Beijing last year, we've got some potentially good news for you. Dr. Heinz-Jakob Neusser, member of the board of management responsible for development at Volkswagen, told Autoblog that theGolf R 400 will definitely come to the US... if it gets the production green light, anyway. Neusser says that the US market has had a hugely positive reaction to the seventh-generation Golffamily. The new hatch won both Motor Trend Car of the Year and North American Car of the Year, and Volkswagen has expanded the Golf range to include a bunch of new variants, including the electric e-Golf and recently released SportWagen. The Golf R 400 would "fit very well into this strategy," says Neusser. The hotter Golfs have been successful, too. When Volkswagen opened the order books for the 2015 Golf R, the yearly allocation for the US sold out in just 11 hours. Neusser says the R 400 will "show how sporty the Golf family can be." We're certainly in favor of this hottest hatch hitting our market. All we need now, is for Volkswagen to officially give it the go-ahead. 3. It’s no secret Volkswagen’s U.S. efforts have struggled over the past couple years. In 2012, the brand sold 438,134 vehicles, while in 2014 that number dipped to 366,970. This slide contrasted industry growth at over 5% annually. We’ve also seen shopper traffic at Kelly Blue Book drop 14 percent over the last 12 months. These figures might have U.S. customers and analysts thinking the automaker is in serious trouble, but is that an accurate impression? Consider two impressive milestones Volksvagen Group (including Audi , Bentley, Bugatti, Ducati, Lamborghini, Porsche , Seat and Skoda) hit for the first time in 2014: 10 million global vehicle sales and €200 billion in revenue. With things going so well globally why are we not seeing the fruits of VW’s labor in the U.S., and how long before the automaker’s success is reflected here? After attending a series of meetings at Volkswagen headquarters in Germany we came away with a clear picture of the automaker’s U.S. strategy, and why it makes sense from a long-term perspective. Perhaps the biggest key to Volkswagen Group’s global plan is reflected in its MQB platform. This is the Group’s strategy for shared modular construction of automobiles across its many brands, creating efficiencies in production methods regardless of vehicle size, type, or brand. For instance, the current U.S. Audi A3 and Volkswagen Golf share the same MQB platform, allowing lower development costs and shared parts. In 2014 the Volkswagen Group sold 2 million vehicles on modular platforms. By 2018 it expects to sell 7 million vehicles utilizing MQB, all produced at maximum speed and cost efficiency. The current Golf was Volkswagen brand’s first MQB vehicle offered in the states, and its been extremely well received. Beyond winning multiple high-profile awards VW sold 8,120 Golfs in the first two months of 2015, a 141.6% increase compared to the first two months of 2014. 4. It’s a Detroit midsize sedan that I drove just for the sake of driving. That’s a verdict in and of itself. This heavily optioned 2015 Ford Fusion, a Titanium EcoBoost AWD model loaned to us by Ford Canada for the final week of March, isn’t perfect. • U.S. Market Price As Tested: $38,440 • Horsepower: 240 @ 5500 rpm • Torque: 270 lb-ft @3000 rpm • Observed Fuel Economy: 19.3 mpg But from the standpoint of on-road dynamics, the Fusion does what only a couple other intermediate sedans currently on the market can do: encourage their owner to take the long way home. The Fusion’s imperfections are notable, however, perhaps to a greater degree because the midsize Ford excels at the act of bringing its pilot joy. According to my Grand Caravan-driving brother, also a father of four, the Fusion’s rear seat, “isn’t bad,” but it lacks the expansiveness of the top-selling midsize car, Toyota’s Camry. Although I’ve spent enough time now with MyFordTouch to find it sufficiently sensible, the system continues to be just plain slow. Why am I waiting and waiting and waiting for climate control options to appear after I start the car? Interior material quality is a mix of pleasant (steering wheel and armrests, for example), adequate (dash top and door surfaces) and disappointing (matte black button surround on the centre stack.) On the subject of performance, this top-flight 2.0L turbo is merely decent. In a world in which the three best-selling midsize nameplates continue to buck the no-V6 trend of their slower-selling rivals, this four-cylinder comes up 37 ponies short (on regular fuel) of the Toyota Camry’s 3.5L V6. Moreover, our particular all-wheel-drive Fusion tips the scales with an extra 201 pounds. (Titanium front-wheel-drive Fusions are 155 pounds lighter than our car.) Every new BMW to get a hybrid version

BMW clearly sees potential in hybrids or is keen to reduce its average CO2 emissions level because the German manufacturer plans to create a hybrid version of every new car. Speaking to US motoring website AutoBlog, BMW North America CEO Ludwig Willisch said: "With the introduction of every new model there will be a plug-in hybrid version of that, too." The first fruit to come from the plug-in hybrid electric vehicle program will be the X5 xDrive40e (aka the xDrive PHEV) and its 313hp powertrain, which is capable of 0 to 62mph in 6.8 seconds, 450Nm of torque, a supermini-bettering 77g/km of CO2 emissions and combined fuel economy of 85.6mpg. When asked about the existence of the i5 and i7, two rumoured models that would sit between the i3 city car and the i8 supercar, Willisch interrupted: "Which we don't have." He added: "Not any time soon." It is really no surprise for BMW to push harder into greener technologies. The i8 is a one-of-a-kind supercar that is both fast and frugal, while the BMW i3 proves there is someone besides Tesla who gets the need for electric cars to be more desirable than a Toyota Prius. Speaking of which, Willisch was also asked about whether BMW sees Tesla as a competitor. "I wouldn't say I don't see any competition. But I still see that a BMW 5 Series and a Tesla are totally different animals." Source: https://recombu.com/cars/article/every-new-bmw-to-get-hybrid-version?
  6. Full article: http://www.mirror.co.uk/lifestyle/motoring/car-most-likely-stolen-your-5314869? New study has revealed the cars most likely to be stolen - and the BMW X5 tops the list for the sixth consecutive year. The BMW X5 is the most stolen car in Britain, new figures revealed yesterday/Wednesday. It heads a list of stolen cars dominated by prestigious 4x4 vehicles. It is the sixth year in a row that BMW’s X5 has topped the most stolen table, according to research by vehicle recovery service Tracker, which put the spotlight on thieves’ top targets. And the number of stolen vehicles with a keyless entry system has a reached a record high, showing thieves are becoming more adept at overriding the security on these cars Last year Tracker recovered more than £11 million worth of stolen vehicles and returned them to their owners. The average value of cars stolen and recovered in 2014 was £25,600, up nearly nine per cent on the previous year’s value of £23,600. For the past three years, BMW models have dominated the top 10 of most stolen vehicles, but 2014 saw an increase in the range of Mercedes and Jaguar Land Rover marques being stolen. 7. Full article: http://www.foxnews.com/leisure/2015/03/12/bmw-water-injection-system-gives-turbo-engine-boost/? BMW is using an old-school trick to improve the performance of one of its newest cars. The twin-turbocharged six-cylinder that powers the M4 coupes it employs as a safety cars for the Moto GP motorcycle racing championship is fitted with a water injection system that sprays a cooling mist into the intake air, and it will be offered in showrooms soon. It’s a century-old idea that reduces the temperature in the cylinder, which improves combustion and allows a turbocharged engine to run at higher boost by reducing knocking and heat related stress. In the M4, three injectors are installed in the intake plenum of the inline-six-cylinder motor, each supplying two cylinders with fine droplets of H2O. They’re fed by a 5.0-liter tank installed in the rear of the car that needs to be refilled with each tank of gasoline during track use, but just once every five stops on the road. 8. I didn't expect anything but a well made commercial considering that Lamborghini is spending a loot of money in promoting their products.
  9. It looks very good indeed. About the sales, it should sells good considering that Audi looks like did a good job by creating an all-electric crossover. But what about competitors?
  10. I think you are trying to point out that it looks similar to it's predecessor, the 458, and, to be honest I think you might be right it kinda shares the main drawing points with a little tweaking , but maybe we are too harsh. Anyway, you can't cay Ferrari is not paying attention to design, just think about the Ferrari LaFerrari. And keep in mind that Porsche is one of a kind when it comes to not doing anything about the desgin.
  11. The 488 GTB takes its name from the cubic capacity of each of its cylinders: 487.75, rounded up to 488. 'GTB' comes in celebration of the 40th anniversary of the gorgeous 308 GTB of 1975. The 488’s total cubic capacity is 3.9-litres, but heavy turbocharging and a wealth of Maranello know-how has enabled engineers to extract a whopping 661bhp at a satisfyingly high 8000rpm. A substantial 561lb ft of torque also arrives from just 2000rpm. Handling that power is Ferrari’s latest twin-clutch gearbox, which we can safely say is amongst the very best in the business. Its accurate yet aggressive shifts and satisfyingly rapid responses were a vital ingredient in the 458's success. 12. A slew of new models and innovations will arrive in Audi's lineup over the next few years, Audi technical development chief Ulrich Hackenberg announced today during a speech in Ingolstadt, Germany. The automaker confirmed it will introduce two large crossovers -- including the Q8 and an all-electric model -- and has also outlined a very near-term plan for autonomous driving. Audi says that a new Q8 model will be offered as a sporty Q variant, slotting above the all-new Q7. In 2018, Audi will bring out an all-electric crossover that promises over 310 miles of range. It will be built on the automaker's second-generation MLB platform that can accommodate a variety of different drivetrains. We can expect much more information on this model by the end of this year. 13. We’ve seen the pictures, we’ve seen the car premiere at the Geneva Auto Show, so now it’s time to see home hot footage of the Lamborghini Aventador Superveloce put all that reactive ability to work. In a brand new promo, the driver of the Lamborghini Aventador LP 750-4 Superveloce prepares to take this super lambo through some treacherous bends, clinically analyzing his approach before executing it with precision, a seriousness we usually attribute to drivers of that other really well known Italian supercar maker. Nevertheless, Lamborghini is keen to show off that the new Superveloce is just as sharp to drive as it is in looks, as implied in the not-so-subtle “S”execution graphic that flashes up on the screen. 14. he Italian based automaker Lamborghini has seen a sales increase in its models last year after it managed to move no less than 2,530 cars. Despite the financial crisis is still making its presence felt, people’s needs for powerful exotic cars are higher than ever. Lamborghini has managed to see a 19 percent increase in its new car sales back in 2014, compared to the previous year, and revenue has jumped by 24 percent for the car manufacturer, which managed to bring no less than 629 million euros last year. “Today the company is driving towards the future from a very solid economic base. With our very attractive model mix, ongoing anticipated investment and stable markets, we anticipate a phase of solid growth in the medium term”, said Stephan Winkelmann, the president and CEO of Lamborghini. Volkswagen Passat review

I agree, I think the author definitely exaggerated with that statement. Personally, I don't think Volkswagen will ever try to compete with those well-known luxury models as long as the Phaeton is still around.
