  1. And here we have those wonderful dealerships trying to claim lease cars from customers when their leases run out instead of letting customer offer to buy/finance it. Yeah, great option there from those mean OEMs. https://www.bostonglobe.com/2021/09/28/business/ag-advises-its-illegal-advertise-one-price-vehicle-then-charge-another/?outputType=amp
  2. You don’t get to do that SMK. You had no clue about the $20K which (as Drew pointed out) is certain trim packages. Don’t act like you had foresight here when you didn’t. And please keep defending the $h! practices of dealerships, practices that have been proven to you time and time again so that you can deflect to OEMs like Rivian and make exaggerated claims of “bait and switch” while dealerships have literally been doing that very same thing (in one fashion or another) for decades. Again, refer to Ford and GM putting their dealerships on notice…or just ignore it like you’ve done up to this point. https://www.autocheatsheet.com/car-dealer-scams/bait-and-switch-car-dealer-scam.html And even after being warned by Ford, some dealerships are still being dirty but hey, we need them right? https://tfltruck.com/2022/02/report-2022-ford-lightning-bait-and-switch-a-dealer-is-still-charging-a-markup/ And just one google search on “car dealership bait and switch” reveals shots like this, Again, for the fourth time, what Rivian did was dumb. They let people reserve these trucks based on price estimates made almost three years ago. Some important things, like rampant inflation and COVID, have happened since then. Now, if they keep doing this, then there is a Tesla issue here. However, this is way more overblown than Balth wants to make it out. Show him the exact same practices done by dealerships, and he will say something like “well, I got a great deal at my dealership” like that discounts what happened at other places. Sorry, but maybe it’s best to let this one play out a bit before jumping to the gun crucify something you had no interest in buying in the first place.
  3. As someone who has had ownership time in both a Plymouth and a Kia, I will respectfully disagree with your comparison.
  4. So now it's $20K and not the $11,495 and $14K that you, yourself, posted? And damn. I said I was done earlier with this clickbait and had to go back and look. I have made my point though and I 10000% standby the fact that this much ado about nothing.
  5. Not apples to apples but I guess you didn't read the article I posted. Over the summer the average new car price was $40K and now it is $47K. That is almost a 20% jump in that time but you want to find fault in Rivian? Seriously? You're doing Mercedes fans proud with the cherry picking. Again, refundable deposit for non-financed buyers (and those financed buyers keep the original price) and they can find something else, perhaps a Ford Lightning that is bigger yet cheaper than the Rivian. Yes, much ado about damn nothing. So now it's $20K and not the $11,495 and $14K that you, yourself, posted?
  6. Tesla maybe but you are selectively ignoring why the price jump happened in the first place which again, has affected all makes. Rivian miscalculated and will honor the original price for those who have already started the financing. The rest have been giving options to get their deposits back. And spare me this direct buy nonsense when dealers have their own price gouging tactics that you seem to ignore. Also skip the invention of the “no haggle” dealership model started under GM (when Saturn came out) that many dealerships still use today. Again, this is much ado about nothing IMO.
  7. Yeah because dealerships have sure been in the “negotiating” mood for the last two years lol. Must be why companies like GM and Ford have threatened various dealerships for their “negotiating” tactics. Seriously flawed logic you have going on here Balth.
  8. Maybe it’s the fact that everything else, including all ICE cars have gone up as well. This article only confirms that Rivian is facing the same issues as everyone else. Sorry but this is nothing more than a clickbait thread to try and single out an EV maker while ignoring the world around it that affected the change in question here. Just going to leave this right here is bid this thread farewell. https://www.caranddriver.com/news/a38748092/new-car-average-sale-prices-47100/
  9. Same here. This from the Greensboro, NC dealership I spoke of earlier. This is not a $105,900K car, on looks alone. Not on the outside and, with this trim, not on the inside either. https://www.mbgreensboro.com/new/Mercedes-Benz/2022-Mercedes-Benz-EQS-0f9876620a0e09b121c5b7df30e164fe.htm
  10. That's called an E-Class so there was literally no reason for Benz to make such a hideously boring car on the outside, in the case of their EV sedans. I would honestly be pissed if I were a current Benz owner, looking to make the move from my ICE "Best or nothing" to something that absolutely does not look like the "best or nothing". This would literally be unacceptable from any other make so Benz does not get any kind of pass for screwing up the FIRST thing someone sees when they hit their dealership lots. If you took the Benz emblem off that grill, you would never know it was a Mercedes and that is a problem IMO.
  11. When you enjoy lighting your money on fire.
  12. No amount of tech goodies and supposed range and performance will cover up that hideous jellybean undercover VW CC look (and I literally just saw an EQS at the MB dealership in Greensboro two days ago). Rabid fanboys aside, no one in their right mind would say that Benz put out their best design for this.
  13. Dear SM...I mean Balth: Compare package apples to package apples. Those base model ICE versions do not come with near as much standard equipment as their EV counterparts. This has been addressed before so that is all I am going to say on that. My original point stand. They are ALL overpriced. But they are not and one has a hatch and one doesn't. It's not even the same platform, never mind the package differences that I just covered.
  14. Then it's in great company with literally every other make out there. Every new car and truck is overpriced. Kia could surprise folks and do that but I wouldn't count on it.
  15. And just wait until we see a whole generation of mechanics that are raised on nothing but EVs (since there is the implication of 100% EV marketshare). Sure there will be some old school grease monkeys coming of age but when EVs become the dominant powertrain on the roads (notice the absence of the word "if" there), they will be fewer and fewer with each passing generation. Such is human history and all.
  16. Apparently I forgot to put a sarcasm tag on this part.
  17. You basically your response is "meh" and might as do nothing? Just stay with ICEs and keep on the crappy track this country (and most of the world) has riding on for the last century? F progress. F what is better LONG TERM. No offense Balth, but that is all I'm seeing here, just a litany of excuses. Just skip the fact that NOW todays cars are SOO reliable that the vast majority will last for the next 15-30 years, even with 100% EV marketshare taking hold. I'm no mathematician nor do I work in logistics, but that entire statement is flawed down to its very core and your know it.
  18. Good thing it's not the only EV sold in Korea and using the SMK cherry picking method is not the way here. https://www.just-auto.com/news/south-korean-ev-sales-almost-double-in-january-september/
  19. Nothing to see here. Just a bucket list car, is all. https://charlotte.craigslist.org/cto/d/bartonsville-57chevy-handyman-wagon/7449735558.html
  20. True to a point but I am willing to bet serious money that there are far more folks flooring the gas pedal to get 0-60 than there are folks towing 30K lbs.
  21. Which is perfect for the three folks who actually tow anywhere near that much stuff ?
  22. Bearing in mind that these are purely concept renderings (skipping that Polestar like taillight treatment that will never go on a Caddy), there is potential there. However, will Cadillac actually build it? That's the bigger question here.
  23. So the Chinese Lincoln is basically an Audi on the outside (with K5 taillights). Unfortunate.
  24. But if you had a frunk you'd have more room for cocaine smuggling.
