  1. I make the above post because we're having more rolling blackouts due to our electric infrastructure being inadequate every time it gets warm outside, and fire causing more shut-off to electricity.

How the hell are people supposed to get around if they drive electric cars that they cannot charge??

Sorry, ranting. If I go any further it will only go into politics.  But that's really what it comes down to is it not???

The hilariously inept Newsom has provided plenty of material with this one.  The meme-makers are really making hay!  :roflmao:  Chevy's new California-Compliant transportation alternative!

In order for that to be truly accurate the carriage would have to be in front of the horse.

  2. So here we are

California has an inadequate power grid in part because of global warming policies.

I would have to look at the statistics but I believe California as a state has more drivers on the road than any place else in the nation.

Can someone please explain to me how the solution is for billions of people to plug in something that needs at least 240 volts to charge halfway timely into a grid that can't handle turning on a 60w light???

    Sincerely,

         Confused

Sounds like a strapping young buck, with all that stremf.  I'm curious, is there a photo of this folded bed?

I'm sure someone took one. It's not an uncommon complaint. If you are curious you can use something called Google. Or don't. I don't really care either way.

I did hear a story where a Silverado owner sneezed and the truck exploded. There've been a few stories of that happening over the last few years. But I drive with a clothespin on my nose, everyday. No worries.

Well, at least I didn't get the model.

  4. Without reading through four pages of comments what I have to say is it's another Chevy put together with the cheapest plastic bits and bobs they can find and marketed as something great. I post this as I'm having another unnecessary issue with my Chevy product. To be fair every car maker is building them with the cheapest bits and bobs they can find. However there is absolutely no excuse for the issues that I've had with 80,000 miles on the Chevy product. Oh back on topic.  Is the new Corvette cool?  I'm sure it is. I'm also fairly sure it's built like a $5 Mattel toy.

  5. I forget who said it, I believe I read it here, but I'm going to quote it without a name.

"There is absolutely nothing redeemable about that car."

It's sad when the only press I see for it is from a local *celebrity mechanic. Every now and then I see one on the road and I ask myself who would buy this thing and what were they thinking.  I like to get a look of the person driving to understand what demographic is paying money for such a thing.

  6. I get the concept but I think people using such a system would anoy me. As 442 stated, if the lights are on some kind of timer it may work. However if they are on sensors I could see myself cussing at some driver slowing down for a red light that will not turn green until cars are tripping the sensor. I don't know how much this feature will cost, but whatever the cost is I could do without it. I could also do without people trying to use a feature like that making traffic worse because they don't understand how things work.

    85 isn't 100..  wind resistance grows exponentially.

Yeah, I know. But I've driven the proposed route 3 times in the last 5 months. It's about 300 miles of straight flat nothing. I regularly see people doing 100+ in that stretch of highway. I don't simply because I don't want the ticket that could come with going that fast. But it sure would be nice to take a significant chunk of time off of that Journey.  And with dedicated high-speed Lanes it would certainly be safer than what's happening there now.

At any rate, I don't think it will ever happen. Especially being California. It will likely never be more than just a proposal.

Hmmmm interesting idea and I find it an ironic money source "Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund" while anything going 100mph is likely getting 50%. or worse, of their rated highway mileage.

Our A4 will happily Cruze along at 85 without any significant efficiency los.

Pictures look like they have a rear camera too under the Jeep Logo.

I'm sure it does. I believe it is a federal mandate thing. All new vehicles sold after a certain time must have a back up camera. With that said, I would not be surprised to see other options for trailering borrowed from the Ram.

It's not a bad option but I don't know why one would choose this over the 5.3 or Ford's 2.7.

    Quoted for absolute truth.

Because GM will probably shove it into as much as possible, while making the 5.3 a price premium over it. Then offer it on almost every trim level to get them into more.  Kinda like Ford does with the Eco VS the 5.0. You know, the exact opposite of what they do with the diesel.

So people wouldn't exactly be choosing it as much as it's what's available without costing more.

    I could be wrong though.

OUCH, seems ZR2 trucks are blowing their airbags in mild off road use and clearly lots of fans are not happy as GM is blowing them off.

Crazy to watch the videos and see very mild off road stuff being done and BOOM the side head airbags are deployed. A bit too sensitive I think for what this truck is supposed to be capable of.

That needs to be addressed before someone gets seriously hurt or worse. It's very common for people to have their head out the window for better tire placement spotting. And apparently it's not just the trucks. Then there is sticking owners with a very expensive tab for a problem that shouldn't exist.

I’ve never lost 1/3 of my range in any of my ICE vehicles. How about you @ocnblu?

    NOPE!

Running the heater and defogger drastically reduces my range. More so than the weather.  Around 30 miles of range can drop to around 20 miles simply because of turning on those accessories. The heater in my car is a serious energy hog. I can't speak for other cars like Leaf, Bolt, an do on. Just my personal observation. The AC doesn't have as dramatic effect. It's about to get hot where I live.  Do I will soon have a better idea just how much the heat and AC will affect things.  I personally still would not buy a battery powered only.
