the Hybrid for mpg is appealing, but otherwise, this car regresses. Vanilla, and not even fine vanilla.
Good virtue being offered, room and space, etc. Styling of all of Honda's new products are just flat and dead. Beyond uninspiring.
But let's think of this. At least Honda has 4 new redesigned core products coming out within a year. HRV, CRV, Pilot, Accord. Not to mention some new Acuras. Not like Mary taking GM into the ground where they simply seem to be leaving the volume consumer segments left behind with no new product. Oh sure, trucks. But the competitors to those new Honda products are sure getting ignored. The segments that people can actually afford.

I don't know much about them. Compared to so many other vehicles, it would now be less polarizing. I don't know what sort of reliability they turn in.
As I was scrolling very quickly and landed on the photo of its interior, I thought it was an Olds Aurora for a split second. Again, a split second.
Yes, the Aurora dash is one of the big draws of this Saab.
Parts availability on these is a thing. I hear the taillights have some sort of design flaw, and if you have to replace them its outrageous expensive and hard to get.
This was a LaCrosse platform twin. So it has good space inside and should share some mechanicals with other GM cars.

No, not really anymore. Very plastic and creaky. Feels very cheap. The new Silverado / Sierra can blow away the Tundra. The new Canyon looks like it will do the same to the Tacoma. The RX isn’t even close to Enclave level.
Only the LS / LX get decent quality interiors at Toyota these days.
Yeah, the tiny motors are what kill the GX for me, but I have to admit they are probably the best use of space verse length you’ll find today.
interesting, a friend had gotten a new work vehicle from his company lately. a new RAV4 (since when is toyota doing fleet).
the design of the interior is sort of basic and blocky and sterile however i was somewhat impressed with the low gloss and nice texture on the plastics. Still looked a bit cheap but not really what i would call bad. Assembly quality of the dash and door trim and all the gauges and controls was insanely precise. GM can never seem to do that. Seemed to have a lot of space also. But the seat padding felt cheap and uncomfortable. they must save the better seat padding for the lexus.
Overally a nicer execution of 'Asian vehicle make interior' than what Hyundai / Kia does; at least that's good.

The Encore and Encore GX are marvels of modern packaging. I can't think of any (ICE) platform from any other manufacturer that gave that much interior room in such a short space. I genuinely liked my Encore's size when it was just the two of us, but as we now have to transport aging parents, it got too small for 4.
The Encore GX is very space efficient. But, its got tiny motors! Would love to see Encore GX available with at least the 1.5 liter four as an option.
The VW Taos is extremely space efficient; huge inside for the size / class. If the exterior wasn't so dull on it I would even give it some thought.

I'm not sure why, but the Compass feels a lot more snug than the Equinox. The Terrain feels downright airy. I know the Nox and Terrain have identical dimensions. I've always considered the Cherokee with its larger cargo capacity to be more of the equivalent to the TerriNox.
MotorTrend compares the Tonale to the XC40 and Q3... which is probably about right.
Strange. I’ve seen comparisons before where they compared the edge and Cherokee. The Cherokee is a real tweener IMO.
I would would like to see them enlarge the compass interior a bit. I know what you mean on the snug part. They did improve the interior a whole lot this past year. At least it’s nice to sit in now finally.

The Hornet will be a little bit smaller than those (cue the roominess complaints in a vehicle intended to be a sports crossover). This isn't a direct replacement for the Journey in that regard and it won't line up against the CR-V/RAV-4/TerriNox directly because it will be more compact. From an interior size perspective, I would expect this to line up more between an Encore GX and a BMW X3.
this is Compass sized. The Equinox and current Compass are pretty similar in size but i can see if it ended up between the Equinox and Encore GX.

In normal mode, the engine output gets dialed back for efficiency. The bigger Terrain 2.0T with a 9-speed gets into the 30s on the highway, so I would expect similar numbers from this. Not an unreasonable expectation when the bigger/heavier Cherokee with the previous version of this engine does 26 mpg.
The Pacifica Hybrid does 83 MPGe, so the PHEV Hornet R/T should easily meet or exceed that.
For my household, the Hornet R/T would effectively be a high powered EV in daily commuting. For both of us our daily round trip is less than 30 miles.
I dont think fuel economy will be an issue for either model.
good that this new offering has come up. I prefer the Tonale, but my guess is they will sell at higher prices. Big thing is the 2.0 turbo is a valid option in the Hornet; those who GM told f u to who wanted the 2.0 to continue in the Terrain and Equinox have something to go to rather than settle for the 1.5.

Making the Airflow an Edge / Blazer competitor and putting the 3.6 in it instead of EV makes more sense to Chrysler in terms of remaining relevant.
But otherwise I have no issue whatsoever with this being an EV and it will be a good EV entrant. It just does far less for Stellantis' success as an EV than it does plugging a hole in their marketing offerings to a big volume segment.

That's what the world needs, more Chrysler N/A 3.6L engines! 🤣
have had 3 of them in a row; its a solid motor smooth great mpg no issues.
I would like that 6 cylinder turbo they have in a future vehicle.

as a current Chrysler owner, i like this design.
My next vehicle will still be gas though. Would be nice to see this wrapped with the 3.6 v6 under the hood.

Dodge Chargers ... and coupons!
Coupons are funny because they might expire on July 31 which, to me, means the 31st is included. Some might interpret it to mean they end on the 30th.
As for the Charger, they say production for Charger and Challenger will end in 2023. Does that mean 2023 will be the last model year, for which production typically starts later in 2022? Or could it mean that they will still produce them in 2023 so a 2024 model year might be the last one?
I'm hoping it's the latter. But I'd prefer someone chimes in and/or may have seen other news and articles.
i just read an article yesterday that said that Stellantis is going to have a new gas rwd Charger/300/Challenger platform on line in 25-26-ish.....I'll hunt for the link. that is new info. Before, it was believed there was going to be no replacement for the current platform but that new news seemed to indicate otherwise.
If true, its a major plus for Stellantis. And the customer.

Wow, I wasn’t expecting this.
I really dig the profile and styling. Fresh, unique, interesting. Makes the Tesla and Lucid look flabby and dated. Makes the Mercedes look ridiculous.
still may not justify the price but that long roof coupe / wagon look I really really like.

Actually, you have that wrong as Coal Powered cars is not that common now. Coal power generation continues to drop of the total U.S. power generation.
Coal generated about 22% of the electricity at utility-scale facilities in the United States in 2021, down from 39% in 2014. Coal supplied 9.5 quadrillion British thermal units (2,800 TWh) of primary energy to electric power plants in 2021, which made up 90% of coal's contribution to U.S. energy supply. Utilities buy more than 90% of the coal consumed in the United States. In 2019 there were 241 coal powered units across the United States. Coal plants have been closing since the 2010s due to cheaper and cleaner natural gas and renewables.

natural gas may be cheaper. you can't say renewables are cheaper yet.

styling is good, a little too much going on in the front fender, but that's ok. interior is a knockout, homerun, especially the red option. Overall proportions more wagony than CUV but its got a bit of a street wagon vibe. Kinda of new and interesting.
I like all the powertrain options. It is a geographical thing. Those who don't want to pop for AWD in many markets prefer the FWD, now that is decades of market selection with ICE vehicles and weight on the front wheels. I am not sure how a FWD electric drives but many folks in northern climes will simply look at the monroney and if they see RWD only will immediately hard pass, logic wrong or not. Chevy has all powertrain options covered here, for once a good thing from the general.
Now i just want to know when i can get the same styling and interior / vehicle with ICE 3.6 twin turbo six. I am not against electrics but coal powered cars are just fact of life for electrics until we get more states to give it up and get some new nuclear plants built. So called renewables are a long way from even reaching powering 25% of our current and future needs. Like wind, gotta find ways to dispose of the used blades and windmill parts that are no longer of use.
Energy policy needs to be "ALL of the above". ICE's will be in demands for many years yet as infrastructure won't support electrics only anytime soon or in our lifetimes. ICE, hybrid, EV all should be allowed to coexist.

I can barely fit in the X3, I doubt I could in the X1, at 300lbs, 6'6" tall, I am not the average or normal size person.
While my wife loves driving our Trailblazer SS which is considered a mid size, I could still use a bit more room. For local driving it is fine, but road trips are a bit tight for me. The Escalade I have is perfect for road trips.
current X1 has 55.6 inches of shoulder room in front and I couldn't find the number for hip room.
current x3 is 57.6. 56.0 rear ... shoulder room
Interesting, the current Equinox is 57.2 for front shoulder room and 54.2 for front hip room. second row dimensions 55.5 and 51.7. I will say this, the current x1 and x3 seem to have more open cabin and maybe that just contributes to the perception of space. I do like it when there is more glass area, feels less constricting.
by contrast
The 2021 Chevy Suburban interior dimensions leave nothing to be desired. All three rows of seating offer impressive legroom, and while other three-row SUVs seat seven or eight at best, the Chevy Suburban seating capacity tops out at nine passengers in some configurations!
No matter where your passengers find themselves seated, they’ll find that it’s easy to spread out and get comfortable. Compare the Chevy Suburban interior dimensions across all three rows:
- Front Headroom/Legroom/Shoulder Room — 42.30 inches/44.50 inches/66.00 inches
- Second Row Headroom/Legroom/Shoulder Room — 39.90 inches/42.00 inches/64.00 inches
- Third Row Headroom/Legroom/Shoulder Room — 38.20 inches/36.70 inches/48.40 inches

looks sharp, would refer a plugin hybrid though, or just a v6.
that said it should fit into the electric market well.
hope it doesn't have the issues the new Mach E has!

This is why I have to test fit my body in as the actual measurement figures supplied can be manipulated and us big folks do not always fit in what others call spacious. BMW is anything but spacious to me.
I will say this, I find the current X1 and X3 to be pretty comfortable.
SHOWROOM IMPRESSION: 2023 Cadillac Lyriq
in Reader Reviews

This must have been the base trim level. I didn't get in the driver's seat before they locked it up but I did get in the back seat. The level of interior was not lux level although seemingly more like a base Cadillac trim level. Rear seat space was not a ton, ok leg room but due to the skateboard platform withe batteries the floor was rather high so not much room in back to stretch six footer legs. Felt more like its in-between a mid size and larger size in terms of girth and leg room.
Dash looked interesting and I think the console layout seems interesting. Although, I generally much prefer a fully utilized and closed console. Overall this won't give a luxury impression as a vehicle unless it has a higher trim level spec'd out. The leather and plastics quality was decent but not rich. Fair enough considering the starting price of it being both a Cadillac and an EV.
I couldn't get in the trunk to see how the space was there.
Styling, sharp....some slight EV weirdness plus generic GM profile means an attractive EV that's dressed up with enough Cadillac bling including a really cool lighted grille and funky taillights.
