    Noisy GM 3.6?

Drove a rental 2013 Impala with the 3.6 engine with only 13K miles. Motor seemed pretty noisy during passing and merging acceleration. My 2008 Impala with the 3.5 engine only about half the noise under the same circumstances. My question is, will the new 2014 Impala have the same engine, because I was considering on buying this car. Maybe I was wrong on the amount of noise of the 3.6!! Any throughts?
  2. Members 2636 posts Changed out battery on 2008 Impala. Connecting new battery and the air pump comes on and runs for a while then shuts off. I drove car about 20 miles thinking maybe computer has to reset. No luck. With the key off, the pump motor starts to run for about 3 or 4 minutes then shuts off. Fifteen minutes later it start again. Any ideas? Posted 19 March 2012 - 03:44 PM I wonder if you have a confused HVAC soleniod. From what I have found with BING, this seems to be an issue with the Impala's on batery change, you need to denergize the electrical by swiping the battery cable over the post before hooking up. Seems to confuse them. You can pull the neg and swip it to deenergize the electrical system and see if it fixed the Soleniod. Denali: Thanks for the information. It worked!!

    Impala Radio

The digial displays on my 2008 Impala sometimes goes dim and I cannot read the radio stations or read the clock. It seems to go bright again within 10 minutes. This even happens in bright sun light, exiting a tunnel, etc. Is there a sensor that controls the brightness on these radios?
  5. Anybody know when the 2009 Impala's will begin production?
  6. Less than three years ago, I had a pressure control solenoid installed in the transmission on my 2000 Century. It cured a intermittent hard shifting problem and whine when starting out from a stop. I could usually stop this problem if I turned off the ignition for a few seconds but this became diffcult in stop and go traffic. The problem is coming back, about once or twice a week. Is this a known problem? Is there a TSB? Should GM help pay for repair because the same part has to be replaced?

    E85

If a engine has E85 capability, what changes are needed to the engine? Is there more hoses, solenoids, condensers, etc to further fill up the engine compartment?
  8. What are the updates or changes on the new LZ4 3.5L engine on the 2007 Impala compared to the 3.5L on the 2006 Impala?
  9. With 125k miles on my century, I looked at the Lacrosse in January. Things I didn't like and hoped would be fixed or replaced on the 2007 model was the 3800 engine which is 40 years old, unbalanced 90 degrees which needed counter rotating shafts, no VVT etc. These are things I wouldn't know except for the office car expert who puts doubts in your mind and thus changes your decisions. The Lucerne also was scratched from my buying list for this reason. The Impala 3.5 would be OK in the Lacrosse. If I went with the 3.6 engine, I would have to get the dual zone climate control, which contains 17 small push buttons, which is overwhelming. My century had a manual dual zone system which is not offered on the CX. It is a single zone. This also should be fixed. The sales person even hinted these 17 buttons was causing problems with his older customers, and since this was a dual dealership, he was steering some people over to the Impala's. Where is the Ipod jack? Buick's are suppose to be a premium car and I was willing to pay the price if only they had finished the Lacrosse/Lucerne. "Do it right the first time".
