What is your next car purchase? revisited...
Since your traveling with a female, let me give you a hint. She will pack less and the trip will be more fun. I have a wife and three daughters, also have had two teenage girls as exchange students. Ask me how I know about females and packing. You may yet trade the MINI in on an Ariel Atom, Lotus Catherham 7, or Meyers Manx dune buggy once you see how much less she can pack... Chris

What is your next car purchase? revisited...
+1 on the Wrangler Rubicon...would be a great summer toy... My brother in law just bought my sister a prev. gen Wrangler six speed. She loves putting the top down and hauling my neice and nephew around. Chris

GM Sales Slide 41%
Honda has been dropping around here in central Ohio also, and with the big Honda plants just up the road in Marysville, one would think this would be the LAST place Honda would drop. Chris

GM Sales Slide 41%
If your serious, I could do some checking around. I saw this in the paper when I was in the doctors office waiting for my son... Chris

I would agree...and I'm not really down with the new Wrangler, either. Chris

GM Studies Killing Saab, Saturn, Pontiac
The fact that it sustains the middle class is probably why it is so threatening to the powers that be. Seriously. Chris

Tomorrow should tell the tale
The Atlanta Are is cool. I wonder how much loosing that plant and the Ford Taurus plant will hurt the rather strong Atlanta economy? There are still days I wish I lived in Atlanta. Chris

GM Studies Killing Saab, Saturn, Pontiac
Interesting question, FOG. I would think that GMC is as close to a GM nameplate as they have, and as such I would hate to see it go. Chris

Project Mothertruck
It would be an awesome tow vehicle done. If it doesn't sell on Ebay, you might join the SCCA and list it with the local SCCA folks, or the local roundy-round or drag folks, if they have a newsletter. Although fewer people are racing because of the economy, there is still a demand for cheap tow vehicles. I'm going to mention this to a couple friends of mine, and see if I can drum up some interest for it. Chris

Frost on the Silverado
Amazing pics...to bad you can't do a custom paint job like this on a vehicle....that would be a cool showtruck! Chris

ARG
Keep us posted, dude, esp. with the school situation. I know you don't want to relocate, but I have floated the idea of starting an Italian language department to a few admin. friends of mine at a few alternative type schools. Hopefully it shouldn't come to that but.... Keep us posted. And good luck on Long Island! Chris

November 2008 Sales: Toyota Motor Sales
2009 will be very bleak indeed, methinks... Chris

Tomorrow should tell the tale
I used to live in Atlanta, and I drove past the Doraville plant every day on the way to work. Has it been shuttered yet, or is it still building minivans for fleet and Canadian sale? BTW, what part of Atlanta did you live in? Chris

I'm going to get banned or flamed for agreeing with you, but this might just work. And I like the idea of a modern "Grand National" Chris

COBALT SS, King of the Subcompacts
Honda kinda dropped the ball on the latest Civic. We looked at a new Civic when we bought our Miata...my wife actually lefgt the showroom crying after test driving the Civic. She hated the dashboard, the styling, the way the car drove, the car rattled, the salesperson was arrogant, they hinted that they wanted lisst or else.... I'm not impressed with the latest Civic, and our little test drive made me a whole lot less impressed. The Mazda 3 is a much more rational choice if you want a car to compete with the Cobalt. And the Mazdaspeed 3 is about ten times the car the Civic SI is. Hell, the GTI Volkswagen is also a much better car IMHO. Chris

GM Sales Slide 41%
Ouch...only 265 Sky sales...astra is tanking worse than ever....OUCH! Local Saturn Dealer is advertising the 2009 Astra at something like 12,500with alloys, etc. GM can't be making any money at this price. Chris

If GM is reduced to Chevy and Caddy
Wow. CARBIZ, hope I'm not crossing the line, but your mother was/is a beautiful woman! My 55 chevy was two tone blue and white, (Skyline blue and india ivory) and my 57 chevy was two tone blue and white (India Ivory and Larkspur blue). I love 1950's two tone cars...which is why the modern MINI is perhaps one of the few "newer" cars I can stomach. Chris

Japanese Car manufacturers cut production/jobs
Actually, even astin-martin is cutting production... http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20081201/ap_on_..._aston_martin_2 Chris/66

A thought on a new section
I do like seeing the ebay links in the lounge though. It is nice to dream about cars you can't afford/shouldn't bring home... Chris

What is your next car purchase? revisited...
What are YOU thinking, though, Satty about a car? The wagon won't last forever, and with a child you'll eventually need a more family type of vehicle. Chris

If GM is reduced to Chevy and Caddy
Two tone green just looks right on a lot of 50's cars. Thanks for the pic, balthazar. Chris

What is your next car purchase? revisited...
The foglights are nice, I have them on the Miata and use them all of the time. You will like this car SOOO much better than the Prius. Although they are supposedly bringing out a Prius pickup. Suppose we'll see Camino with one of those in his garage? (Chris ducks for cover...) Chris

Japanese Car manufacturers cut production/jobs
It's going to be a very rough 2009 for the whole industry. Chris

Don't Shoot Your Eye Out, Kid!
Saw tho really clean 69-72 Chevy shortbeds...one was red and white two tone, and one was a medium green...both were in good shape. Chris
