  1. So, it's 2020 and I need to go to Pep Boys. When I approach the counter and ask for Spark plugs, will the counter kid get all confused? Because I don't want to make his life miserable, I will never buy a Spark. I imagine the Outback version would be called the Spork, since it would be marketed as a "multi-purpose vehicle".

    Magic numbers

225, 318, 383, 413, 426, 440... some pretty serious engines in Dodge's annals. Do you have a Dodge story to tell?

    Fightin' words

A spokesdrone for Toy Ota says their new 4Runner is the last real SUV. I think the folks at Jeep might have a word or two in response to that. Like Grand Cherokee, Liberty, and to top it all off, WRANGLER RUBICON, baby! Bite it, Toy Ota!

    Was there ever...

...a Dodge truck with station wagon fenders?
  6. "I really want something that is short, wide, cheap, RWD coup and can keep up with the taxis." You realize you are describing perfectly... the AMC Pacer, right?
  7. NOS? I thought he was in college or something, driving all the boys and girls WILD.
  8. record say it with a British accent
  9. Yes and then you could scout around for fenders, rocker panels and lower quarters...
  10. Finally, some microscopic coolness.
  11. Am I that white?
  12. I'd want to keep it, too. It's cool.
  13. Thanks for posting! You are helping me further cement my opinion on this little car. It is an absolute horror.
  14. She is a very smart little thing, and she did a good job in that big ol' Ford. I wonder how her daddy got her? Surrogacy, adoption? Because listening to him talk, it doesn't seem like it was the old-fashioned method.
  15. Either he was very handsome and you were distracted, or you secretly want to keep that wagon.
  16. "This could change the whole Dynamic 88." Harumph... didn't know you had a '67 Oldsmobile. HOW MANY CARS YOU GOT?
  17. Well I'll be a monkey's uncle. I am SCARFING down some Thanksgiving victuals, all made by ocn from scratch, and everything turned out great... shocker! Here's what I'm eating as I type: Butterball whole turkey breast: rubbed with margarine (I Can't Believe It Ain't Butter w/Olive Oil version), fresh ground pepper and poultry seasoning. Apple and Wild Rice dressing: two loaves of french bread, ripped up into bitesize chunks & soaked in chopped onion, celery hearts, Red Delicious apple, sage, poultry seasoning, powdered buttermilk, wild rice (cooked in a separate pan ahead of time), chicken broth and plenty of margarine (all sauteed together until the veggies are soft), baked. Baked Corn: two cans niblets, an egg, milk, powdered buttermilk, whole wheat flour, corn meal, baking powder, chopped green pepper, sugar and topped with pats of margarine. Orange-Walnut Sweet Potatoes: sweet potatoes cut bite-size and boiled in chicken broth, then put into a pan with margarine, raw sugar, orange juice, chopped walnuts and a dash each of cinnamon and powdered ginger until it starts to carmelize. Whole Cranberry Sauce (only thing I made by someone's recipe) : one bag cranberries, orange juice, sugar, cinnamon, ginger and cloves, boiled down, topped with grated orange rind and chilled. Gravy: roasting pan drippings, boiled with water and flour to thicken. I'm proud of myself, I did it w/no help and now I've got some tasty leftovers for the next month or so. How about you guys, what're y'all havin' to eat today?
  18. Everything we have is so fleeting. Gone in an instant. I'm sorry, Drew.
  19. You know, I have to admit I also saw Ford in DF's design, I was thinking big Mercury. I do like this version of yours, MDM.
  20. Ford has been pretty tight-lipped about a future lineup for Mercury. I think there is room for the brand as a bridge between workaday Fords and full-lux Lincolns. We know this much: the brand will shrink the size of its vehicles. Here's what I propose for Mercury - Focus-based coupe, sedan and convertible. Let Ford have the hatchbacks. Make it sporty and young. Focus-based people-mover, 7 passenger. Let Ford have the 5-passenger version. Kuga-based crossover. Keep the look more urban than the Ford, which should look more rugged. Milan sedan redesign, with Cougar coupe version added. It's gotta be hot, yet upscale, like the '67 was in relation to the Mustang. I think all this could be done successfully with the right differentiation from its Ford sisters, and the right marketing. Let me know what you think the lineup should be comprised of. Phasing the brand out is off the table for this thread.
  21. The 1951 Mercury is an all-time customizer's favorite. The Turnpike Cruiser exemplified the optimistic, space-age exuberance of the late 50's. The big bruiser Marauders of the early to mid-60's did well on the streets and the NASCAR tracks. The 1967 Cougar slunk into our consciousness as a cross between personal luxury and ponycar. When you think of cool Mercuries, what comes to your mind?
  22. God I hate them and their lemmings. May they all run off that cliff together, with or without a shaved gas pedal.
  23. Thankful that I've been able to keep my job another year in the car business when it's in such a shambles all around, that's one thing.
  24. fabulous
  25. Looks great, DF. Thanks for incorporating my suggestions. I think you're the winnah!
