  1. Try growing your hair just a LITTLE BIT longer in the back, just once. You might feel a bit liberated!
  2. Up until last year, I always spent Thanksgiving at my dad's, but my brother had to work last year, so I cooked my own dinner and spent the day alone, then joined family for a turkey dinner on the weekend after. Same this year, looks like, except instead of weekend dinner at dad's, I will be driving to my bro's mountain cabin for the weekend to join family for dinner up there. Blah, I wish I had someone to spend the actual holiday with.
  3. Trying to Be Sexy a phrase we used in high school
  4. I'm only saying that because I think a Pontiac version in production would not have been any more unique than the other three were from each other. Formal rooflines were all the rage back then... but you're right, in a dream such as Oldsmoboi's for this thread, anything is possible.
  5. Of course. The subtle screaming chicken decal that covered the entire hood, fender vents, lower body spats and spoilers all convey a conservative vibe when compared to the Camaro. I see what you're saying.
  6. Toyota/Scion and Honda have not abandoned the compact coupe. Kia just entered the market with a brand-new coupe, and there have been plenty of Cobalt coupes sold. There is simply no way they can abandon the coupe market.
  7. Well it is very nice. I would have preferred a bit better delineated deck area, it is kind of hatchback-y. Also, they say it has "no" B-pillar, but clearly it is just hidden behind the quarter glass, I'm sure the quarter glass cannot be retracted. And it's a good thing it has a back-up camera. Now I really want to see at least some real-world photos from the show floor, and of course in person to form a complete judgment. I am very happy to see three bodystyles come back to market from one nameplate. I hope they sell a decent amount of each style and that, in turn, justifies to the bean counters a multiple-bodystyle strategy throughout the new, smaller company.

  9. We just had a GM in the shop that needed a RH rear door. Insurance company guidelines indicated we go used, and wouldn't you know it, it had the same crappy giant vinyl covering as your car. Tech ended up having to fill 16 holes from screws that held the vinyl trim on, in addition to plenty of adhesive. I actually do not remember how the movable glass goes into those cars, but a giant percentage of door glasses go in from the bottom.
  10. I'm talking to you
  11. What's wrong with it? It has a bulletproof inline six, an understressed automatic transmission, and it's unusual. What's not to like?
  12. The Pinto was a better car than the Vega, although I prefer the Vega's styling, generally, especially the first-gen's "baby Camaro" look. I don't see too much wrong with the wagon in the ad, as a cheap entrance into the old car hobby and a weekend runabout (Pinto joke). I'd never try it as a daily driver, however.
  13. It has Jetta headlights and grille in it. The Golf lights are more rounded and fit the holes. Same with the grille, the Golf grille has a lower piece that is full-width and a different mesh. The VW bug has bitten Viper. I can think of worse things to spend money and time on. This could be a big collaboration labor of love project for Dallas and Cory. I expect more pics of the process. Now he's made me want to go look at 2010 GTIs again... insanity must be catching.
  14. Well Dwight I thought the reviews have indicated good control of torque steer on the current car. I have only driven an HHR SS with automatic, though, not a Cobalt turbo with manual. The HHR had a hint of torque steer.
  15. Those seats look awful fancy... I wonder if they're out of a Mustang II Ghia?
  16. I got to drive it.
  17. Ford has decided not to bring their Ka to the US, citing its small size. Volkswagen has decided to dilute their handsome new Polo for US customers by making it bigger (a mistake, imo, as I believe it is B-segment and fine as is). I am not the only person who thinks this way.
  18. Well, first things first. They have to make the Aveo replacement into something desirable before they go shoving the Spark down our throats, and they already have a strike 1 with news it will be a five-door only.
  19. Well, the car has been on the market for quite a while elsewhere. Bodystyles should not have anything to do with reliability... reliability and quality should be intrinsic parts of the mechanical, body hardware and electrical systems, parts of the car shared among all the bodystyles.
  20. While I tend toward the sporty side of the market (I envision a Cruze 2.0 turbo SS coupe/convertible with six speed manual), "green" variants should be part of the plan, as well, for people who believe the sky is falling. We've got to please everyone with this car... it's a Chevrolet tradition.
  21. It's funny, we've had customers who think they have an electrical problem with their European car when they see the rear foglamp on. They think they have a sticking brake light. So far, I am surprised and delighted by this new Regal and how it's being packaged. I hope it does well. Multiple bodystyles should be brought to market asap... coupe and wagon to join the sedan, please.
  22. What Chevy Cruze variants would you like to see? The sedan. What a practical bodystyle... but exciting? No way. And with a smaller GM, it seems a no-brainer that they should be doing more with fewer nameplates. So far, all we've seen of the Chevrolet Cruze is a practical sedan. zzzzzz.... What worked in the past could work again: a selection of bodystyles and trim levels in the Cruze lineup is needed to cover the market and help the car generate big buzz. Coupe, hatchback, sedan, convertible and wagon variations were all available on its ancestor, the workhorse Cavalier, and that was when there were J-bodies at every division of GM. It's what we need today... choices. And it should be easier for GM to justify multiple bodystyles for the Cruze, since there will only be two divisions (that I know of) selling the platform here in the USA. So how about it, Chevy? What better way to blanket the small car market than with multiple bodystyles of your upcoming mass consumption compact?
  23. Honestly, I wouldn't drive anything smaller than what I've got. The Spark is ugly and Americans, as a rule, are not comfortable in tiny penalty boxes. Studies have shown that people who traded their comfortable vehicles for tiny ones as a result of the $4 gasoline spike are remorseful. If we have another spike, and people feel they are forced into these pedal cars, the result will still be the same... a bunch of unhappy owners. It is a no-win for any manufacturer. How would you like to be in charge of trying to market something like this to Americans? Something you KNOW they do not want? It's impossible. And Satty, please move soon. I like you when you're a smartass, but not an a-hole.
