  1. Cool ol' Mopie, but how rusty is it underneath? Still a shame. I do know that every demo derby I've been to, a big ol' Mopie usually wins, because they are so emm effin' tough.
  2. I should clarify: PA requires insurance, too. At least liability.
  3. Apparently not, it must have been a heavy Flo day for her.

  8. That's one reason I bought the Cobalt. 315 hp v. 155.

    Jeep Patriot

This is the reason why Chrysler has curtailed their C4C matching rebate scheme... lack of inventory due to the stoppage during court proceedings. I hope they can get the pipeline flow problem fixed, pronto. I would ask how long it would take to factory-order one the way you want it. If more funds are approved, you might luck out and still be able to take advantage of the program if it can be built quick enough.

I guess you can get the AWD, 2.4L and manual trans as an option. That would be the one I'd want. No CVT for me. I wish they'd go to a six-speed auto on these.

Check Edmunds' owner reviews. Last time I did, owners gave it fairly high marks, even if it is non-traditional. A cousin of mine who has had two excellent Jeeps in a row (Cherokee and Liberty), does not like the Patriot, she actually prefers the Compass for some strange reason. Nevermind that... she actually likes the CR-V better than either of those, without really seeing the new Equinox, which I am pitching to her.
  13. Progressive is bad enough, but I wouldn't insure a tricycle with Allstate. I do have Progressive's Loyalty Rewards program helping me, since I've been with them since 2001. It kicked in like V-Tec. It would have been an even bigger increase if I weren't such a "loyal customer".
  14. I have to have insurance since there is a lien on my car. I wish insurance were simply an interest-bearing account, perhaps put in with the loan payment but kept separate to cover damages, but I understand the risk would be great, for example if you total your new car leaving the lot. Insurance is legalized extortion and needs to be reformed somehow. Insurance companies make huge profits on customers for years and then when that customer has a claim, *BAM*, suddenly rates have to increase... as if all those premiums you sent in just disappeared into thin air.

  21. So, my car insurance for this term went up $234... that's for 6 months. Two accidents with the Sierra and two speeding tickets will take a toll, I understand that. Still, it seemed a huge penalty, especially with loyalty discounts I was given. As the spokesmodel went over all my information, she asked me to verify that I am RENTING my home. When I informed her I own my home, suddenly my car insurance premium went back down $45! And they are sending me a refund for the last term of $28, for being a homeowner. I have used the same agent since I moved to PA in 2003... I have my homeowner's insurance and car insurance through the same agent, different companies. I am so pissed at my agent right now for costing me money over the last 6+ years for my vehicle insurance because they told them I was renting my house back then! I have a call in to my agent to explain themselves... the person at the office "was not authorized to answer my questions". All I'm saying, is make sure you are on top of your own affairs, don't assume professionals you put your trust in don't make mistakes.

  23. AFAIK, factory-applied clearcoat started on certain colors before coming on across-the-board. Not sure if an '84 has a SPID label on it, which would solve the mystery immediately. However, there is at least one website dedicated to paint codes, I have it on my Favorites at work, I'll have to find it and link it here.
  24. Very interesting car, and I have a couple of questions. What makes it "Transcontinental"? Was that an actual trim level that year? And I'm very curious to see assembly line photos of these cars in the paint shop... the two-tone process, specifically, as it appears the whole bottom half of the car from the molding down (at least) was painted white, in this case, with the red stenciled off somehow, and then the red applied. Which color would GM have seen as the "primary" color on this car? I see red on the floorboards, so I am guessing red was "primary" with white "secondary". I am geeking on this.
