Um... GM makes smooth caps. Sanding the texture off his existing ones is a waste of time and it would lead to an uneven surface that would look like crap.

GMTG74, don't try to paint your existing mirror caps, they are textured and will not hold paint well. Best to just buy a pair of the smooth, paintable caps, have them painted, and pop them in.
