  1. Got my new issue of A/W magazine today, and look at the ad on the back cover... "Something Wicked This Way Comes - Pontiac G8 GXP"
  2. A big, fat-ass step backwards.
  3. Wow, good job, there hasn't been a Chrysler product hit that kind of mileage since the old Slant Six days!
  4. And all future cars will snap together like Legos, so simple even a moron can build one.
  5. Cuticle, how much heavier is the Y-body convertible over the Kappa convertible? I don't think it's much, and the Y-body chassis is infinitely more competitive than Kappa. Kappa is fine as a fun roadster, but as a serious sports car, no dice.
  6. What it is, is... buying a vehicle with the Pontiac name projects an image for the buyer. It instills within the buyer a mindset, a feeling, an attitude. Even the entry-level G5 buyer chooses a Pontiac because of their attitude on life and an image they want to exude. Nevermind the scant physical difference between a Cobalt and a G5 when looked at on paper. We're not talking about paper, we're talking about emotions, attitude on life, and image projection. All important considerations for car buyers. This is what has kept the fires going in a Pontiac enthusiast, the history that leads up to the now, what Pontiac has been is still in the arrowhead badge in 2009. No Chevrolet and no Buick can give all that to a Pontiac person.
  7. Local BPG dealership has an orgasmically beautiful metallic red Solstice GXP targa... but it has an automatic transmission...
  8. Let me further pinpoint who I am talking about with this thread: people who have been loyal to a BPG DEALERSHIP for a number of years, who have, until the very near future, bought Pontiacs from that dealership. This is one example of the customer I am talking about.
  9. Few non-German speakers realize Golf means Gulf (as in body of water) in German. Which is one reason why VW called the Golf Mk I "Rabbit" in the US all those years ago... to avoid confusion.
  10. A Kappa Stingray is one thing, but a Y-body 6 cylinder? Pishposh.
  11. Instead of taking a veiled swipe at me, Satty, post your ideas on how Buick can keep a few Pontiac buyers from defecting.
  12. Oh get that out of my face.
  13. Hey Cuticle, Fritz said all Pontiacs are dead and will not be shifted.
  14. Nothing in my eyes, but I wanted to post this to see if you guys have ideas. They'll need to expand the lineup. They'll need to produce some youthful models. T-Type trim level regurgitated? Delta coupe with turbo 2.0L Alpha coupe and convertible Zeta LWB sedan Epsilon II sedan, coupe and wagon What should Buick do to try to keep a few Pontiac customers from leaving GM wholesale?
  15. Never with the name Corvette. If anything, maybe a smaller 2-seat Chevrolet roadster as a companion car... but NEVER a Corvette.
  16. A Corvette with less than 8 cylinders... that's rich.
  17. I just cannot muster up much of an emotional reaction to the demise of Saturn as I can with Pontiac. My mom owned two new S-series sedans, which were good little cars. I owned a new 2003 ION Quad Coupe for 9 months and it was a disaster. GM weakened Saturn when they neglected the S-series, and destroyed it when they integrated it as just another me-too division. I feel most sorry for all the dealership employees who put their heart and soul into keeping customers happy, only to have this happen. Good luck to them as Saturn goes through this wholesale transformation into... who knows what at this point. A lot of people thought they had time, but the sand is falling much faster through that hourglass, seems like.
  18. Well I had been hearing some rattling in the steering over gravel and certain bumps, so after a test drive with the service manager at my former place of employment (local Chevy dealership), they ordered a steering column for my car. There seems to be an issue with the electromechanical interface in the column (the electric motor and gears are inside a sealed unit on the column). They installed it yesterday. So now it is quiet and solid-feeling, as it should be. I'm happy, and I hope it stays fixed. They told me the part number is a new one, so GM apparently did some engineering work to improve this system.
  19. OK if this crap keeps up I will post a picture of my pinga for you all to ogle. How's that sound?
  20. soon I hope, not now
  21. I don't see the nerd part in the numbers, only in the rebuilding computers part.
  22. Thanks for the support, vonVee. Camino, you have my respect.
  23. Bimmer, Pontiac's death is huge, and it feels like a final straw after spending a lifetime living and breathing GM and feeling good about and defending their market position as the world's #1 car maker. As far as your statement about Pontiac... you need a clue, boy. As long as the brand was around, there was hope for a return to greatness... there was always the right now and the future, that promise of tomorrow. That is done. It's a real death. If I must clarify myself, I am not as much a car enthusiast as I have been a GM enthusiast. Let's say you love watching a certain sport because you have a favorite team. Things are proceeding, and then suddenly the team is cut from the league. Tell me truthfully if you can... will you be able to maintain your enthusiasm? Don't lie.
  24. Dodgefan, what say do you have in this? Try Allpar.
  25. Ungainly, ill-proportioned, hideous. An ugly product.
