Some very disturbing implications there for Buick and Pontiac but mainly Buick. Ive been suspicious but everytime I turn around something or some comment backs me up. I think they are wrong about Buick and will be letting something slide away that they should not.
-
I thought they were pretty cool, the Lotus Seven is still on market too isnt it or am I getting the two cars confused ? There are many British cars I like from this period but my favorites are the Riley Imp I have a nice photo of and a Vanden Plas styled Squire

Is this true ? The discount came out of the retail not the wholesale end ?

Evok ! Go back and read the course of events that led to my remark, which amounted to someone giving no input toward the topic but rather attacking the poster of the topic. Then myself throwin him a bone, because this is what CDBP does, very rare to see a responce directly to the post, it was fun and I enjoyed it. After that I made my comment on the laying off of American workers. Then if you continue reading you will find that I was not the child throwing out insults, your insults do not bother me, nor will they ever, I am surprised however that the adminstration and moderators allows your direct insults. Now you both want to insult me about maturity or education, just go back and read your post. "Jounalism is a fancy word for the press in case you do not understand." "It seems as CD/BP points out, the US education system left you behind." "that freedom of the press" is that what the first amendment is ? Then just when did I say anything against free press ? I did voice an honest opinion of how I feel about sensational jouralism when I mentioned being rid of many thousands, Im pretty sho som whar in dat dar consiution me entitled to me opinion, no ? So anyhow I was not way way off topic. I responed briefly to a few off topic post made and then responded briefly to the topic at hand. So while you little boys are doing your little clicky clicky chit chat about others on the board behind closed doors, Ill just carry on. "CD/PB and myself were taking bets as to how long it would take for you to chime in on this thread." whos immature ? This was about Americans loosing work, why would I not "chime in" ? SO Evok, as you and your bud took this way way off topic I will close by reposting my origional unedited post where its clear I was having concerns myself about how it had already gotten off topic. :) amazing how easily this distracted such a highly educated bunch.......no ? B)

I find much of this so interesting. Cry about poor sales in last quarter........when your inventory was gone...and your employees were ??????/sitting home ????????//collecting !!!!!!!!! Cry about 05 losses when its because of the billions you had to hand over to Fiat and the 20% or what ever it was your insurance company raised your rates in addition to what every large percentage energy and steel cost increases killed you. Then ice the cake by sending out mixed messages..yarite..feed the media..great publicity stunt what a bunch of hosers ! set the price point, promote the product, increase the warranty, educate your dealer staff, offer a nice purchase package and sell the damn cars this is not a trial run this is real

Havent seen him around in a long long time.

It aint luck Sly :AH-HA_wink: Its 90* Buick powered Buick/Olds American built cars. B) that 83 would be a different car, B body and most likely 307 Olds right ? Mines a 3 litre 90* FWD H body, the origional H body. I think the 307 was a reliable motor wasnt it ? , just a bit of struggling old school V8 trying to still work in the pull and tug environment that was the late 70's/80's. No one that was around to see this knows what really went down, but thats another topic. Id love to have turbo LeSabre or LeSabre Sport Coupe from ??? 78 ?? Just a little hyjack there.

Mista Earl ! Are you ever gonna grow up ? :AH-HA_wink:

I drive 38 powered Buicks and Oldsmobiles......need I say more  Ill mention some details about the cars because I do not buy my wife junk to drive even though the $ & miles may indicate, I do not buy a car that does not have a near perfect/clean interior, nor one that is dented or rusted in the body panels. 86 LeSabre $2500.00 owned from 70,000 - 150,000 miles, still own, its a garage queen now, was perfect at purchase (96) and is again now reliability - cam sensor went once around 120,000 or so typical service - brake pads a few times, rears just recently , oil, grease, ect. one set of tires & a pair of snows -that ran last season on the 90 Regency and this season will finish them on the Cierra Cruiser..I got 5 winters out of those darn tires 89 Chr NYer $2300.00 owned from 80,000 - 156,000 Mitsu OHC 3.0 litre V6 great condition at purchase (00), perfect black cherry interior reliability - two electrical issues, cost little to have trouble shot, popped the radiator for reasons unknown to me at busy toll booths, drove to nearest parking lot, overheated engine worse than bad, drove it another 2 years before the lower end went, over heating destroys internal engine parts and it will rear its ugly face sooner or later, I was amazed it was not ruined when it happened. typical service - I did not change timing belt, it broke, had to rebuild top end, my fault not the cars, shortly after this was when lower end went, go figure, I had it lookin good too. traded for Oldsmobile LSS $10,000 - from 60,000 - 112,000 miles currently near perfect at purchase (02) and still is reliability - water pump at say 80 - 90,000 I forget typical service - oil, grease, one set of front pads, 2 tires, thats it 91 Regal Limited $1000.00 - owned from 223,000 to ? 244,000? this was a very clean car and I am still heart broke reliability - one MAF sensor, one Fuel pump typical service on such an old car - had to replace fuel lines (rust) and did tank at same time but it was not leaking I just did it because of the labor, and that was the time, complete rear disc's, calipers/rotors/cables/pads, front pads and it needed tires shortly after buying :P I messed up on this car and traded way before I should have so I really didnt get my time and parts money back as I usually do but the tradein had the necessary value I guess 90 Regency $700.00 winter car - owned from 312,000 - 329,000 currently amazingly clean interior & exterior reliability - alternator, now need water pump typical service - front brakes, needed tires, needed new struts, one ball joint, fuel & brake lines/tank, some rust repair, all options fully functional and rides like a Oldsmobile at 329,000 90 Cierra Cruiser $675.00 winter car - 170,000 - 196,000 currently, this is the lowliest car I have purchased in decades, some cig burns dirty interior, cleaned up good, some visible rust. reliability - nothing, notta, turn key and go typical - needed front pads, tires, one lower ball joint, one driveshaft at time of purchase, just last month replaced fuel tank and lines (rust) sad part is I could keep going, but it would take much more time to remember and type all the repairs and failures of my previously owned and loved Import cars and trucks

OC , you did not notice or make note of what I was said. "Im not just talking about the auto industry" or at least you ignored it in your view of the world from the suburbs of California. Fortunantly the population is far more diverse. I find your 5% estimates of the populations work needs interesting but that is about all it is, a interesting view "from the top?". So many like to use the crutch "so what, we lost 30,000 (middle class) jobs, but we gained 20,000 (minimum wage jobs) Sorry but Im not one of them, I will express my views on the need for a diverse supply of jobs and interests in this country........that pay good money. I will not get involved in conversations regarding employment "in the south"
-
while I appreaciate your input about journalism and the little piece of research about the journalist at hand, I did not notice any input on your behalf as to the topic. So I just couldnt resist, now tell me again about who got left behind ?
-
Well yea ! so many have been saying this for years. Volumn can = profit. That employee priceing, rebates and most everything else GM campaigned sent such a bad signal and the promotion was swiss cheese. I just hope they didnt shoot themselves in the foot so many times that it wont stop bleeding.
-
and I put it in there just for you and I got what I expected, the responce of a preschooler

Theres obviously a huge cost difference but if money is not an issue there is nothing to consider. Shorty after becomeing a father I found my taste changed rapidly. For example, and this goes back 15+ years. I always one day wanted a Camaro, and used to thing BMW and Mercedes were special, then I bought my first Buick and suddenly forgot all about Camaros, BMW's, Mercedes and all that hoopla and became a Buick Oldsmobile Chrysler only man. Now as we are looking toward the empty nest we are again thinking more about more sporty cars and less importance on back seat and sensible but cars like the CXS's are the best of both worlds.
-
did anyone read that and absorb the reality of the message ? It right full of "whats wrong with this picture ?" theres going to be huge populations in our country without jobs when all this BS comes to a head and Im not just talking about the auto industry. Its like everyone is blind. those Asians arent stupid. You only have to grease the hands of a few to destroy the economy of millions.

journalists suck same as media photographers, too bad we could'nt get rid of 15,000 or more. Anyhow .............Im always sorry to hear about Americans jobs going down the dumper. I hope it does not affect their lives & families too negitively long term. Sad part is truth be known their jobs were probably off shored and it will not affect future GM product developement. Americans buying Hondas and Toyotas will affect it however. tic toc tic toc tic toc tic toc

Yes but there is clearly no "looks like" going on there. Every little line is different. Cars have been looking nearly "the same" for decades now. You could even go back 40 years and compare similar characteristics. Its the way of the "times", only today styling is far less detailed.
-
Thats is the reality. Even today there are late 80's GM's still on the road while the imports have been gone for a long time. Most Buicks and Oldsmobiles that went to the junk yards went due to rusted fuel and brake lines or fuel pump failure leading to discovery that fuel and brake lines would also need replacing becasue they would not survive pulling the tank due to rust. A job that typically cost near or better than $1000, something that most people just dont have laying around for auto repair. So they go get another loan and start again and the car goes to junk yard. Hardly a long term reliability problem. Theres still old Cavaliers & A bodys running around too while all those Preludes & gang have been long gone 5 years + I spent far more time hunting used parts in JY's and repairing cars back when I was driving imports than I have since I switched to GM's. Yet theres been a full (highly predictable) book writtin about how GMs are and have been unreliable.
-
Damn thats a nice lookin car ! I like how the trunk is recessed a bit. The way the fenders have smooth contours around wheel house. The edged body line, similar to Aurora, slight formed tail in the trunk deck. Oh look.....its go a emblem right in the center of the trunk........just like the VW  its even round  That my favorite part, theres a Trishield on it. :)
-
Man !!!!!!!!! The nonsence rolls out as predicable as the calander changes. "yea but, yea but, yea but, whant, whant, whant", all of 0 years experience in the big world and knows it all.........from reliable resources..... I just dont see any credibility here what so ever.

geeze Dave ? Glad everyones alright but you know I hate to hear about that job thing. I did notice a vacant spot in some posts.
