  1. Looks great..I love the dark wheels with the red paint. I wonder if it will be available with a normal roof w/ sunroof.
  2. Heh-heh... those power sliding doors on some vans are pretty slick, though... one of my coworkers has a Windstar Limited...it's easy to pile in and out of to when doing the lunch run...
  3. I don't need 500hp.... 250-300 is plenty enough...the G35 and 3-series are good examples of enthusiast RWD sport sedans that sell well... GM could do well with a mass-market RWD model...not everyone wants to be a generic FWD-driving sheep...
  4. An H4 that is Wrangler-like could be very nice... but an H4 pattered after the Compass, not so...
  5. Yeah, and the line 'The H3’s short nose precludes most V6 installations' makes no sense--a V6 is shorter than a V8 or the I-5...
  6. 9 years in Great Lakes snow winters (Cleveland/Akron area, Ann Arbor, Mi, Chicago) 6 of those years with '80s RWD cars with snow tires, 3 with an '80s 4x4 SUV 10 years in Colorado Front Range winters, all with 4x4 SUVs. Never had the need for FWD.
  7. I can't even find the '07 GC diesel mentioned on Jeep's website. I've thought an '08 GC with the diesel would make a great upgrade from my '00 GC...
  8. We get plenty of snow here, but I wouldn't drive FWD. 4WD SUV (which is in 2WD RWD most of the time) for the daily driver, RWD cars for fun works for me..
  9. The T-bird looked odd in profile, I thought..it's got a big cab-forward style windshield resulting in a rather short nose, but a long deck, and the nose is taller than the rear (the body tapers front to back in profile)...
  10. I'd like to have seen Ford build that Lincoln convertible. I had a Thunderbird as a rental a couple of years ago, it was a pretty nice car..
  11. A Cutlass Supreme convertible would be interesting to update with the 5.3 V8 or a supercharged 3800. A friend of mine has a red w/ white interior '94 Supreme convertible (along with an '06 GTO and 6 '67-71 GTOs), it's a fun summer car..
  12. I think the sedans could have gone FWD but the coupes stayed RWD, like the Thunderbird and Cougar did thru '96.... alas, regardless of FWD vs RWD, the old 'personal luxury' coupe market that Monte Carlo/Grand Prix/Cutlass Supreme/Regal occupied has died out over the last decade.
  13. I like the styling...very wagon like, a nice change from SUV-wannabe crossovers and minivans. I like the creases down the sides and the taillgate trim.... clean interior design. I think it could do well for Ford.
  14. True enough... but the GM 10 coupes were no great improvement over the G's, IMHO...the wierd beer-tap door handles, the wierd seatbelts (attached to the doors), ugly interiors, wierd proportions, etc.
  15. Yes..I was surprised how many Jeeps I saw in Italy when I was there a few years ago...so many dark blue Grand Cherokees that looked like mine. They looked huge in Rome parked amongst Fiats and other small European hatchbacks.
  16. Yeah, I can barely remember the RWD G sedans and wagons... it's only the coupes I remember--MC,GP,Cutlass Supreme, Regal.
  17. Yeah...beureaucrats can't think outside the box.
  18. Sounds like the testing equipment isn't compatible with hybrids.
  19. For me, the appeal of RWD is all about the handling...esp. a well-balanced RWD car. Power is nice, but power without handling is useless, IMHO. I have no intrerest in trucks..for performance and luxury cars, I prefer RWD. FWD is fine for subcompacts and family sedans, though.
  20. I wouldn't think so...doesn't the Aveo count for GM? Or the cars Toyota builds outside the US count for them, etc?
  21. I saw the odometer in my Jeep roll over to 77777 about a month ago.. that was pretty cool. I also remember when it hit 11111, 22222, 33333, etc. I actually noted the date, time, and location of those milestones on a piece of paper I keep in the glovebox...I have no idea why, though. I've misplaced keys, wallet, cellphone so many times over the years, that I'm fanatical about keeping them in the same place at home, every day, then leaving for work with them in the same places---wallet and change, left front pocket, cellphone & keys, right front pocket, company badge clip on the right front pants pocket, sunglasses case in my jacket or hand, toque on my head (I wear a hat a lot since with my head shaved I get cold easily).
  22. CNN is saying 31 now.. This kind of event is going to be a sad presence on that campus for decades to come, I'm afraid.... My undegrad college was notorious for riots that left 4 students dead in 1970, and that was still an event that I was well aware of when I was there in the early '90s...
  23. I've driven a number of W rentals from Enterprise and Avis over the last decade, from Luminas and Regals to an '06 Impala, Monte Carlo, and Grand Prix...they were ok... comparable to the Tauruses I've driven from Hertz. My favorite FWD sedan rentals over the last decade were probably the '99 and up Intrepids, 300Ms, Concordes, and LHSes...
  24. I still eat at MickeyDs once in a while...sometimes, I can't resist a bacon/egg/cheese biscuit value meal or a couple snack wraps and a fruit and walnut salad.. At least I live in a large metro area with numerous restaurants choices and can avoid fast food when I dine out.. Unlike when I visit my mom and brother in podunk, Ohio where MickeyD's, Wendys, Subway, and Dominos Pizza are about the only restaurant choices within 20 miles...
  25. As far as GM, probably the G-body..goes back to the '90s?
