  1. The Lacrosse should have a 2.8L 210hp V-6 & a 3.6L 260hp V-6 The Lucerne should have a 3.6L 260hp V-6 and the 4.6L 291hp V-8. The DTS should have a 4.6L 275hp V-8 & a 4.6L 320hp V-8. Ok, that is all, goodbye, :P
  2. Saturn could be a mainstream brand but, it is better off building on its already established characteristics like its outstanding dealers. The influx of Opel inspired product shall increase Saturn's fortune's tremendously. What do you think?
  3. I must agree with Polish_Kris. However, I'll go a little further. GM's Epsilon's should be more like the Camry & Accord. The next Malbu appears to be doing this so I hope the next G6,Aura,& LaCrosse(Allure) improve on the Malibu's strengths.
  4. DOHC Engines first premiered on a production Duesenburg in the 1930s. Technologies may sit a wait for many years before they are mainstreamed. Hero of Alexandria invented the steam engine 2000 years ago yet it took until the 1700s for it to find widespread use.
  5. Satty, I guess you love to keep everybody one theit toes, lol
  6. The Cobalt did well & the Malibu even better.
  7. Sounds like a good idea, I'd have to see it first to know if I'd like one.
  8. It's Mutually Assured Destruction this Cold War between Unions and Corporations has to end sometime why not now. Well, hopefully, the workers won't get screwed in the war between labor pimps and robber barons. It's about time workers stood up for themselves as individuals instead of being played by two parties whom both are greedy for money and power. When Unions started most workers got a 4th grade education. Today, many have at least a GED or a HS diploma. I think workers today are smart enough and educated enough to safely negotiate a fair and just contract without some union rep butting in or the employer scamming them.
  9. Right on Target FlyBrian. Satty,I guess we'll manage,lol.
  10. Camless Engines Here's Autoweek's Article Well, This may be the next big thing in engines technology. Overhead Valves became the new standard over L-head valves during the 1950s. Overhead cams became the standard in the 1980s over Overhead valves. It appears Overhead Actuators will likely become the new standard for engines in the 2010s over the current overhead cam engines. Let's all hope GM jumps on this technology as it emerges over the next decade. In a related technology, I've heard rumors that some engineers are working on electromagnetic drivetrains that could transfer the engine's hp and torque via electricity to any or all linear induction(used in maglev trains) discs in each wheel. This revolutionary technology could replace the transmission, drivetrain, and even braking systems in current vehicles reducing weight significantly and increasing efficiency tremendously while providing handling and performance unimaginable today. I appears that hybrids are useful in only to quickly increase fuel efficency in a rather low-tech way. Displacement on Demand, Camless engines and electromagnetic drivtrains and brakes will likely be a more high-tech way to improve the internal combustion engine & likely put hybrids drives in the history books. Perhap, it's still too early to really know?
  11. Here's Saturn's new Website enjoy!Saturn
  12. I suppose that I do have abias. But the autorags are very obvoius in thier disgust for American brands and everyday drivers. There is a pecking order Exotics=>Ultraluxury cars=>Import Sports Cars=>Domestic sports cars=>Import luxury=>domestic luxury=>Mainstream Imports(an average person's vehicle, say a Camry)=>Mainstream Domestics. If you read even Consumer Reports even they show this pecking order. Although they are litle less excited about expensive exotics and ultralux cars than other mags. Have you seen Motor Trend lately in Oct & Nov issues. They give a subjective review of each new 2006 vehicle. 80 percent or more of the domestics got a skepitical or negative view. The Impala is refered to and I paraphrase from memory," I know the Impala doesn't show up on your radar screens. Some how GM sells these cars. How? We're not sure." Yeah, right the Impala just mysteriously sells enough to be on of the top ten best sellers in the country. Thats not all rentals That's for sure. If that isn't bias well, then, thats insane.
  13. Flybrian, I was being a little sarcastic there cause, those are real problem of the 300 that the autorags ignore currently in favor of the cooliness of RWD and a Hemi. That's pretty lame is you ask me.
  14. Here's the correct post, sorry. The other was a mistake. <_<
  15. New Cadillac Website Well, Cadillac updated their website. I like it. Its very fresh. :) A major improvement over the old one.
  16. I'm not sure if this is the right Forum for this but, I have to say this. I'm sick and tired of unfair and bias automags that trash domestics and the middle-class. I mean tell me the last time that any automags reflected a consist positive opinion about any domestic vehicle with in the last 10-15 years. Don't say the Chrysler 300 because, they will be bashing that car in 2-3 years for its "cheap materials", "uncomfortable interior & visabilty" , & it's poor fuel economy, even on the two V-6s. All of these are likely what critics will soon say about the much hyped 300. GM cars get a baseball bat accross the knees as soon as they are out. Ford fairs even worse. Chrysler seems like the darling right now because, all of its new cars a re really modified E-classes. They do not reflect what most Middle Class buyers want in thier vehicles. I don';t like minivans but, millions buy them everyyear so is it really worth the constant bashing of minivan buyers. Motor Trend has done only two comparos of midsize cars since 2001. The automags rarely mention what real car buyers want yet they have hundreds of comparos of luxury and sports cars that no regular American can afford. I don't know about you but, even in the richest state in the nation, New Jersey. You'll still see thousands of regular bread & butter cars & trucks before you'll see one car over $75k. I know that may be what sell magazines but, come on who really cares about Enzo Ferraris when a Corvette X06 is faster and more comfortable and doesn't cost more than a base McMansion. My point is that we must rebel against these autorags. They are elitist and largely anti-American & anti-Canadian. I think it's about time to start a rebellion. When I get out of College I'm starting a new auto magazine that will be fair and just in reviewing and comparing autos in the US & Canada. I think this magazine should also be critical of false comparisons done by other magazines. In other words, inform the masses of this obvious bias towards any import. Finally, this new mag should focus on objectivity.Show only the numbers as they are, nothing more. Rank the cars for their true attributes, their will be no opinions from testers. Even for subjective things like comfort and feel. Get third party volunteers from the public that represent a broad spectrum of autobuyers that are double blind so they can show as little bias as possible. This will allow every automobile to be given a thorough review that is fair, balanced, and just. For fans of American cars and everyday drivers will likely see much more positive reviews in such a magazine. Well, I got three more years to go until I can start. Meanwhile, stop buying the autorags.
  17. Goodbye & Good riddens. Who seriously cares? Its interesting to see a truck company fail in a nation obsessed with SUVs & Pick-ups.
  18. Well, I like what I see so far. The Yukon & Tahoe are really nice. :) I like how these vehicles remain GM in appearance but, look more refined than Toyotas. This makes me really excited to see what other future GM products will look like. In one word, WOW

    Toyota

    AS a GM fan, I wonder what is the best worst line-up the Toyota can do right now. I was thinking that we gotta guess what the worst they can do. Here's what I think. Toyota Echo? 1.4L 104hp I-4 1.8L 134hp I-4 Corolla 1.8L 134hp I-4 2.4L 179hp I-4 Camry 2.4L 179hp I-4 3.5L 268hp V-6 Avalon 3.5L 268hp V-6 4.6L 357hp V-8? Well, thats it,whatcha think?
  20. woah, razoredge, relax, the assumption for this whole thread is that GM planned to kill Olds going back to the early '90s. The "new" Oldsmobiles were a desperate effort by Olds to convince GM to save Olds. In 2000, after 5 years of new product falling far short of expectations. GM seems to have allowed Saturn to steal Oldsmobile Icons and styling since its inception. The Insignia for Saturn looks like a 1980s Olds insignia, the first Olds' Aurora looks an aweful lot like a bloated 1st gen S-series. I'm a big fan of Olds and I personally wished that GM had at least left some of the great Oldsmobile legacy in another GM brand. Saturn looks like the likely candidate to me even if GM didn't make that obvious until now. Thanks for the complement knightfan26917 and great points HarleyEarl. The King is dead, Long live the King! :) :CG_all:
  21. Asssuming that the tragic loss of Oldsmobile was meant to be. I was thinking of what GM could have done to make a smoother transition from Oldsmobile to Saturn. This assumes that Saturn is the successor to Oldsmobile. So, what would have been better for GM's market share than what happened, at least a 2 point drop related to Olds' demise and beyond. Any transition is highly risky but, I think mine would have been better. Based on Letters dating up to 8 years before the annoucement of Olds' demise. GM had prepared the ground if that needed to happen. GM first tried to assault the market with new products but, objective observers by 1998 showed that Olds' market share continued its downward spiral. So, GM executives must have had solid backup plans if the new models failed and that parachute should have been Saturn. By 1998 plans were well under way for large vehicles for Saturn. So, the new Oldsmobiles could have been inherited by Saturn in the case of Olds' demise. Ok, so what would I have done. The Cutlass would have run as it did from 1997my to 1999my. When the 2000 Malibu got a mild restyling the Cutlass would have been restyled as the 2000 Saturn L-series(that certainly would have been better than the actual L-series). When Olds' was officially being phased out Saturn's inheritance would have accelerated. The Intrigue ran from 1998-2002my. The Intrigue would have been restyled as a Saturn for the 2003my before the Grand Prix got restyled for the 2004 my. The Alero would have run from 1999-2004 as was and killed with the Grand Am. The Bravada would have became a Saturn in the 2004my & the Relay would be essentially what the Terraza is. The Aurora would have stayed on until 2005my. The Aurora was the last true symbol of what Olds was so it would have been retired with Oldsmobile last Summer. The Aurora would have become a Saturn this year when all of GM's Full-size cars like the DTS & Lucerne got a major revamp. Saturn would have been a totally reinvented Oldsmobile. Unfortunately, GM amputated Olds without backing it up. As great as those cars used to be GM wasted a lot of time money, and effort on those cars just to throw them away. What a shame especially since Saturn is quickly replacing Olds over the next 3-8 years. So, what would you have done? Besides saving Olds, which all true Olds fans would really prefer. :)
  22. I was thinking, How about a 3.9L 242hp V-6 & a 5.3L 320hp hp V-8 in a Camaro and Bel Air. The Grand Prix would be a Zeta sedan and coupe. The GTO would be a high-performance GP coupe, although a separate car model. Well, that's a start.
  23. Please stop messing with other people's stuff that's just dumb.I don't really care about what other people drive. I did do something stupid once. I ran over an old Honda Civic hatchback once. The kid was a punk and kept cutting me off getting out of the parking lot. I told him one day I'll just run over his low ridding ricer. My Pontiac '87 6000 STE is too low to do that so the kid didn't take me seriously nor did I. I was driving my friend's '85 Chevy Blazer one Friday & this kid did it again and I ran over his hood(I really didn't intend too, I swear! I really didn't think I was that close.),LOL! To make a long story short the kid got pissed and speed up to catch me and side-swipped a copcar, lol. He ended up getting arrested cause he started fighting with a cop. The kid ended up being suspended the last 2 months of my senior year & I never saw him since then, back in 2001. I don't even know if he knew it was me,lol. I'd never do that again especially since I could have been in trouble but, it was sure fun since nobody really got hurt. That kid was a bad apple anyway he would have gotten arrested without my helping him. Well, ricers beware, lol! Well, Good Night, I'm tired,
  24. I likt it, the side looks Navigatorish but, it may look diffent in real life.Altogether great.
