  1. It clearly sports Opel styling cues, so unless its a newer Astra or some other small to midsize Opel, it's inevitably a new Saturn for the U.S. market.
  2. I find the exterior (especially the coupe) to be okay, in a Chrysler cab-forward kind of way. However, that interior is so splendidly revolting, that I wouldn't ever want this generation of Civic!
  3. An amazing commercial...especially considering it came from GM. It's colourful and flashy, perfect to get the attention of all the MTVers out there.
  4. "Cobalt: The 2006 model year is big for performance at Chevrolet, with the SS badge added to a wide range of high-horsepower vehicles. Cobalt SS coupe and sedan models feature a 171-hp, 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine as well as suspension and styling enhancements. A freshening is planned for the 2008 model year. GM is exploring an awd Cobalt variant that likely would be aimed at the Mitsubishi Evolution and Subaru WRX." -AutoWeek. I'm not sure how accurate this is, but I would believe it to be reasonably so. An all wheel drive Cobalt sure seems exciting!
  5. My hot hatch of choice, the Opel Astra GTC!
  6. 5'8" tall, 127 lbs. NOTHING fits me, not even smalls. I have to get the biggest kid sizes, and sometimes that's doesn't work.
  7. When I was younger, I called all Chrysler products of the 1980's/early`90's Red Rose Cars. (My grandparents owned an early Reliant and then a 1987 Chrysler New Yorker with the turbo. I still can not figure out why I called them this. Later, when I became interested in gardening (mainly roses) I discovered a red rose known as Chrysler Imperial, but that rose was from the early 1950's, and I'm from the mid `80's. Chrysler has always been my favourite company, but when the second generation of LH cars came out, it upset me that they had to change them. I think kids and old people are the most resistant to change. Then, when I learned about the "merger" -cough, takeover- of Chrysler by Daimler-Benz in 1998, I was sort of devastated. Now, I don't have complete brand loyalty. Hate to say it, but because of that buy-out, I would even be happy driving along in a new Hyundai, despite prefering American vehicles. The event made me become a global car customer. I really like the Opel Astra GTC!! By the way, my first car that I was able to drive as mine was a 1987 Buick Skyhawk Coupe with the covered headlamps and a four speed stick! I still just LOVE that little car, and I don't know why!
  8. Powertrain, fit/finish/quality of materials, and appearance. Too old-fashioned, too cheap looking, too boring or grotesquely ugly.
  9. A Hummer?! WHY?! I think JEEP adequately says "American". HUMMERs have a Jeep grille, too.
  10. Unbelievable. Sure, the Cobalt may not be as fun or high quality campared to the Mazda3, but surely it's much better than an aged Korean sedan (Elantra) that has been described as boring or its twin the new Kia Spectra, and why the hell isn't it any better than a Civic that has one foot in the grave?!!? It's stuff like this that disgusts me.

Excuse me, but what the hell is up with that interior? It isn't symmetrical or attractively divided in any way, shape, or form. NONE of the HVAC vents match up. No, never to this. When I first saw exterior pictures (coupe) I didn't think that it would be that bad. But the interior, ugh.
  12. Hey, Celine is my favourite chanteuse!
  13. I hope that smart comes to the U.S. It's a cool little brand with big economy, and one of my peers from Quincy is ga-ga for the fortwo model.
  14. My, my it must be nice to be freaking rich enough or have a good enough job while in high school to afford a new car. As far as Chevrolet attracting younger buyers, I doubt it, at least in southern Michigan. Myself and my friends are either Mopar or Ford people (Ford is not for me). I believe it is because of horrid vehicles like the Cavalier/Sunfire versus the Focus or Neon, and how ugly the Aztec was/is/forever-will-be. I have driven a Cobalt LS sedan, but it lacks character. An older (2003) Focus I drove was much more fun. However, even though I am not a huge GM fan, I still have a soft spot for the company, and the Cobalt is an oh-so-pleasant (if vanilla) step in the right direction. I'm willing to try another GM car eventually, but not anytime soon. There is still progress to be made with perceived quality and making models more attractive. I'm willing to forgive GM...eventually. My friends do not seem so likely to. Despite that "eventually" and my preferance for Chrysler Corp., oops, sorry, Chrysler Group, I would take a Cobalt Coupe over a Neon because: 1) It's a coupe. 2)The latest face lifted Neon (2003-present) has an appearance that makes me grimace!
  15. I don't really go in for Asia Inc., but I would take that over an Aveo any day. I do like the styling, and the black plastic? Take it or leave it. I don't mind.
  16. Eh, I would much rather have Toyota and Honda be gone! Mitsubishi really isn't threatening to the Big 3.
  17. (Except for the owners) This is the best possible thing to happen to Honda! or Toyota! or any Jap-Trap-Piece-of-Crap! Spread the news! And, these bloody Honda owners have their heads shoved so far up their (and Honda's, I suppose) derrieres about how great Hondas are and what-not. I have some friends that I hadn't seen is awhile, and when I was speaking with them, I said that I had gotten a new vehicle (new=different/better) and that it was a Plymouth Breeze. I told them that I had driven a Honda Civic, but it was a bit expensive for what it was. Their reply? "Oh, the extra money is definitely worth it." Ha! Any recently developed American car is as good as the Asian marques'.
  18. Oh, but as if GM's current minivan powertrains (or minivans, period) are oh-so-state-of-the-art. At least Chrysler is using money to develop something interesting, and I don't see why there shouldn't be a more advance powertrain.
  19. I just don't care for the name, BLS. It makes me think: The Cadillac BulLS**t Sedan.
  20. Every car will need to be modified for both brand and location of sales. Differentiation is a great thing, none of the Epsilon cars look the same. That's how it should be. I don't think you should be able to take the door, or bumper of a G6 and appy it to a Vectra. It does sound like a return to Badge Engineering, but we'll see.
  21. Well, the Opel version should be identical to the Saturn version, so, technically, I want the Opel!!!
  22. Very interesting partnership here. But, um, by the way, how is it that Chrysler's pushrod V6's (which are now found only in the minivans) are a bad thing, but yet it's ok for GM to put their own pushrod V6's into virtually every American car/brand they make? Let's chalk one up for reasoning along the lines of a girl I work with: I'm so confused! (Yeah, this is our loopy friend HT.)
  23. Too ugly for me to ever consider getting!
  24. That is one very nice looking car! Most black vehicles do look really sharp though.
  25. I find the dash to be dull and uninspired. I do like the appearance of the audio controls/HVAC (whatever). And I for one, feel all the panels in a car when I get in. My `96 Plymouth Breeze has hard plastic, yes, but it sure doesn't glare up into the windshield. And...By the way people, just because something's new does NOT mean it's better than what came before it (like i-Drive vs. buttons). Just because we may be fans of GM doesn't mean that we are able to just kiss off glaring imperfections. What's that thing people say? Oh yeah, "Love is BLIND." I'll bet there were GM fans that praised the nasty Pontiac Aztec at launch too.
