Fred Diaz, divisional vice president, Sales and Marketing and Service and Parts, Nissan U.S.A. said: "Nissan’s record October performance demonstrates that a Washington shutdown was not enough to shut down our sales momentum. With the all-new 2014 Rogue hitting dealer showrooms this month, we expect Nissan’s growth to continue to accelerate.” NISSAN HIGHLIGHTS Nissan division posted sales of 81,866 units, an October record representing a gain of 15.4 percent from 70,928 deliveries the prior year. Sales of Rogue crossovers set an October record at 12,919 units, up 53.1 percent, as Nissan prepares to launch the all-new 2014 Rogue later this month. LEAF deliveries are up 166.2 percent in 2013 Frontier sales jumped 71.8 percent in October to 5,242 units, thanks in part to the popularity and increased availability of fuel-efficient 4-cylinder models. INFINITI HIGHLIGHTS Infiniti today reported sales of 9,152 in October, up 4.5 percent from 8,757 units a year earlier. The all-new Infiniti Q50 saw sales of 2,556 units in October, and with two full months of sales, the luxury sports sedan has had 7,357 total deliveries. 2. William Maley Staff Writer - CheersandGears.com October 21, 2013 Infiniti is trying to differentiate itself from the other players in the luxury car market by possibly developing a four-door coupe as a flagship. This is coming from Nissan's executive vice president Andy Palmer to Automotive News. "We won't do a Merc S class or that type of car. We have had that before. We want a flagship car that's appealing and different," said Palmer. The four-door coupe is reportedly taking nspiration from the Infiniti Essence concept shown at the 2009 Geneva Motor Show. Sources say Nissan design chief Shiro Nakamura's team is looking at how to stretch the dimensions of the Essence concept to add two extra doors and seats. This new model could also use Mercedes-Benz's new rear-drive modular platform and be introduced in 2017 at the earliest. But Palmer says the plan for flagship haven't been the greenlight. For that to happen, Infiniti needs to move a fair number of vehicles such as the Q50 sedan and QX60 crossover. 4. Oct. 1, 2013 Nissan U.S. Sales Total 86,868 Vehicles In September NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Nissan U.S. sales in September totaled 86,868, down 5.5 percent from last year's total of 91,907. Nissan Division sales finished at 77,828 units, a decrease of 5.6 percent. Sales of Infiniti vehicles totaled 9,040 units, down 4.3 percent. Fred Diaz, divisional vice president, Sales and Marketing, Service and Parts, Nissan U.S.A. said: "September was a unique month with fewer selling days than the prior year with the Labor Day weekend falling into August sales reporting for the first time in several years. NISSAN HIGHLIGHTS Nissan Division posted sales of 77,828 units, a decrease of 5.6 percent from 82,462 the prior year. Nissan LEAF set a September sales record finishing the month with 1,953 deliveries, an increase of 99 percent year over year. Rogue marks the last of our five top-selling models to be completely redesigned in the past 15 months, a strategy that also has driven stronger sales of Altima, Sentra, Versa and Pathfinder. We expect that demand for these new products will continue to accelerate our sales momentum." "If you haven't been in a Nissan showroom in the last 12 months, you may not recognize much of it—as we continue to bring out new vehicles, the average model age is down 40 percent from a year ago," Diaz said. Infiniti says the Q30's defy traditional body styles in the compact luxury class. design From the release: "The shape of the Infiniti Q30 Concept deliberately challenges categorisation – not a coupe, not a hatch and not a crossover but a fusion of the three body styles." 15. By William Maley Staff Writer - CheersandGears.com May 8, 2013 Infiniti’s president, Johan de Nysschen tells Car and Driver the brand is considering doing a model above the Q70 (M37 and M56). This new model would likely become the brand's flagship vehicle and it will not be like your conventional luxury sedan. "Above Q70 you need a car that competes with 7-series, S-class, and Audi A8. That’s conventional thinking. There’s enough action going on in that segment. I don’t think the world needs another car like that. But I do think the world needs an upscale, very emotional, high-performance luxury sedan from Infiniti that might be a different concept," said de Nysschen. Whatever that mean is anyone's guess. de Nysschen went onto say that if the flagship is given the go ahead, its platform will be used for a GT coupe. “I think we need some kind of sexy sports car that might share powertrains and platforms with [the range-topping sedan], but an even more emotional iteration.” Sadly this new GT will not be the Emerg-E concept which was shown the door due to the high pricetag. Year-to-date, LEAF sales are up more than 160 percent. The all-new Nissan Sentra posted a 44.9 percent sales increase, at 10,734 deliveries. "In the first quarter of 2013, we improved our retail sales by more than 4 percent while reducing deliveries to fleet customers by more than 17 percent. We continued this trend in April with retail up 29 percent and fleet mix down over four percentage points from one year ago, which proves that our new products such as Altima, Sentra and Pathfinder are taking strong hold in the marketplace." "Our strong performance in April was driven largely by double and even triple digit increases on some of our core products, such as Altima up more than 35 percent, Sentra up nearly 45 percent, Rogue up 39 percent and the all-new Pathfinder up over 214 percent." "We expect to have gained market share in April due to our strong retail performance, which we have full intention to continue through the summer months given the building momentum that we are seeing with Altima, Sentra and Pathfinder in particular." "With a strong April building on a record-breaking March, Nissan LEAF sales are now up over 160 percent year-to-date. The wider array of trim levels and lower price driven by the start of U.S. LEAF production at our Smyrna plant are bringing more new customers to our showrooms every day." 23. By Drew Dowdell January 24th, 2013 Yesterday we reported that the Infiniti Q60 coupe would not go on sale until the 2016 model year. It turns out we were half right. That Q60 coupe arriving in 2016 is going to be first coupe to be based on the new Q50 sedan revealed at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit earlier this month. However, in order to speed up the process of renaming the entire model lineup, Infiniti is performing what is likely to be the least costly mid-cycle refresh ever; the current G37 coupe will be renamed Q60 for the next model year and then soldier on into 2015 before being replaced. Infiniti wants to complete the renaming process that all of the current Infiniti models will go through by this summer. Infiniti vigorously defends their renaming scheme, but what do you think? Is it wise to through out all brand equity, especially that of your most well known models, in the quest for uniformity? Album: 2014 Infiniti Q50 Live 12 images 0 comments View full article

  25. By William Maley Staff Writer - CheersandGears.com January 23, 2013 Infiniti's new naming nomenclature has the G sedan turning into the Q50 and the G Coupe/Convertible into the Q60. While we've seen the production version of the new Q50, we didn't know when we'll see the Q60. In a interview with CarAdvice.com.au, Infiniti's global boss, Johan de Nysschen said a production version of the Q60 will arrive in 2015/2016. “I think the coupe is an important part of the platform. Most certainly we are working right now on a coupe derivative of the car [Q50] … known at the Q60." So why the long wait for the coupe? “But, you know, there are a lot of priorities for us. I really want to look at expansion of the entire portfolio. So we probably need to prioritize a little bit the volume segments. So the coupe we can probably expect two and a half to three years down the road,” de Nysschen said. de Nysschen also hinted at a high performance version of the Q50/Q60, saying "someday in the future we will be able to offer more high performance versions [of Q50] than we have today... the dynamic capabilities of this platform are very significant. It can handle far higher power than the engines we are using at launch." Source: CarAdvice.com.au William Maley is a staff writer for Cheers & Gears.
