Kia Motors America Announces May Sales Record Month for the Stinger Fastback Sports Sedan IRVINE, Calif., June 1, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Kia Motors America today announced May sales of 59,462 vehicles, representing a 1.6 percent increase over the same period last year and the brand's highest monthly sales total in 2018. May sales were led by the Forte and Sorento, with 11,261 and 10,370 units sold, respectively. In addition, the Stinger fastback sports sedan set a model-specific monthly sales record with 1,761 units sold in May. "We begin the traditional summer sales period having achieved a number of important milestones, including our best monthly sales thus far in 2018, Stinger sales at an all-time high, and a sales increase of 1.6 percent over the same period last year," said Bill Peffer, vice president, sales operations, Kia Motors America. "With the recent news that Kia has eight models designated a 2018 Top Safety Pick or Top Safety Pick Plus by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, and that Kia was counted among the top three most trusted non-luxury automotive brands – for the second consecutive year – in the annual AMCI Trusted Automotive Brands Study, we are confident that more and more consumers will consider Kia in their purchase decisions."   2. BMW Group U.S. Reports May 2018 Sales MW Group sales increase 3.4 percent in May 2018. BMW brand sales increase 3.3 percent. MINI brand sales increase 4.0 percent. BMW Group electrified vehicle sales increase 26.9 percent, accounting for 6.6 percent of total U.S. sales in May 2018. Woodcliff Lake, NJ – June 1, 2018… Sales of BMW Group vehicles in the U.S. increased 3.4 percent in May 2018 for a total of 30,888 vehicles (BMW and MINI brands combined), compared with 29,881 vehicles sold in the same month a year ago. Year-to-date BMW Group sales in the U.S. are up 3.3 percent from the first five months of 2017. “Once again BMW has defied the odds with seven straight months of sales gains and the outlook for the second half of the year is positive,” said Bernhard Kuhnt, President and CEO, BMW of North America. “Our X model Sports Activity Vehicles continue their steady increase as availability improves and the BMW 5 Series is proof there’s strong demand for a great sedan, especially the electrified version which is now approaching 20% of 5 Series sales.” BMW Brand Sales Sales of BMW brand vehicles increased 3.3 percent in May 2018 for a total of 26,662 compared to 25,818 vehicles sold in May 2017. Year-to-date, the BMW brand is up 3.2 percent on sales of 123,979 vehicles compared to 120,124 sold in the first five months of 2017. BMW’s lineup of Sports Activity Vehicles accounted for 52 percent of BMW brand sales in May 2018, with particularly strong performances from the BMW X3 and BMW X5, as well as the first-ever BMW X2. MINI Brand Sales For May, MINI USA reported 4,226 vehicles sold, an increase of 4.0 percent from the 4,063 sold in the same month a year ago. The MINI Countryman continued its strong performance this month, rising 29.4 percent compared to May 2017 and contributing to a 61.9 percent year-to-date increase over Countryman sales in the first five months of 2017. BMW Group Electrified Vehicle Sales BMW Group in the U.S. (BMW and MINI combined) sales of electric and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles totaled 2,046 in May 2018, an increase of 26.9 percent from the 1,612 sold in the same month a year ago. BMW Group electrified vehicles accounted for 6.6 percent of U.S. sales in May 2018. BMW Group currently offers seven electrified models in the U.S., including the BMW i3, BMW i8, BMW 330e, BMW 530e, BMW 740e, BMW X5 xDrive 40e and MINI Countryman plug-in-hybrid electric vehicle.

With Pilot and CR-V also adding record May sales, Honda brand gained a total of 4.3 percent for the month. Accord sales continued to climb strongly since its launch last fall, posting more than 28,000 sales in May, up 29.3% versus last month. With 34,349 sold in May, Civic gained 7.4% for the month. Pilot sales jumped 36.1% in setting a new May record, its 9th consecutive gain, and CR-V sales climbed 11.6% on sales of 35,905, also a May record. Acura Sales Highlights: With strong sales of the outgoing RDX helping Acura maintain a steady sales pace in May, the all-new 2019 RDX arrives in dealers today – the first in a new generation of Acura products completely designed around the brand’s Precision Crafted Performance brand direction. Acura light truck sales remained strong with RDX topping 4,700 in May and MDX passing the 4,000 mark. ILX gained 28.3% on for the month and is up 16.2% year to date.

Mazda Reports May Sales Results Mazda CX-3 Posts Best-Ever Sales Month IRVINE, Calif., June 1, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Mazda North American Operations (MNAO) today reported total May U.S. sales of 29,980 vehicles, representing an increase of 15.1 percent versus May of last year. Year-to-date (YTD) sales through May are up 14.9 percent versus last year, with 137,031 vehicles sold. With 26 selling days in May 2018, versus 25 the year prior, the company posted an increase of 10.7 percent on a Daily Selling Rate (DSR) basis. Key May sales notes: Mazda6 led the charge, posting a sales increase of 63.8 percent year-over-year (YOY), with 4,437 vehicles sold in the month of May.This increase was led by the launch of the new 2018 Mazda6, which is now available in more trim options than before, including the introduction of a Signature trim level, which had previously only been available on the CX-9. Mazda CX-5, Mazda's award-winning crossover SUV, returned to record-breaking sales, posting its best-ever May sales of 14,173 vehicles, marking an increase of 19.9 percent YOY. Sales of the Mazda CX-5 are up 43.7 percent YTD. Mazda CX-3 posted its best-ever sales this month, with 1,823 vehicles sold in May, marking an increase of 18.6 percent YOY. Sales of Mazda CX-3 are up 14.0 percent YTD. Mazda's seven-passenger crossover SUV, Mazda CX-9, had a near-record month, finishing up 26.6 percent YOY, with 2,509 vehicles sold. Sales of the Mazda CX-9 are up 18.4 percent YTD. Every model in the CX-line posted sales gains in the month of May. Total sales of the CX-line, including the CX-3, CX-5 and CX-9, where up 20.6 percent over May of last year, with 18,505 vehicles sold.

  9. Nissan Group reports May 2018 U.S. Sales NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Nissan Group today announced total U.S. sales for May 2018 of 131,832 units, a decrease of 4 percent compared to the previous year. Nissan highlights: Overall sales of Nissan crossovers, trucks and SUVs set a May record, up 4 percent. Sales of the Rogue crossover set a May record with sales of 38,413 units, up 18 percent. Nissan LEAF all-electric vehicle sales increased 13 percent to 1,576 units. FCA US Reports May 2018 Sales FCA US reports best month of retail sales since July 2005 Jeep® brand reports record May of total sales, up 29 percent Jeep Wrangler reports record May of total sales, up 26 percent Ram Light Duty retail sales rise 18 percent in May June 1, 2018 , Auburn Hills, Mich. - FCA US LLC today reported sales of 214,294 vehicles in May 2018, an 11 percent increase compared with sales of 193,040 vehicles in May 2017. U.S. retail sales for the month rose 10 percent to 167,785, making it the highest month of retail sales since July 2005 when 219,045 vehicles were sold. It was also the best May since 2004. Retail sales accounted for 78 percent of total sales. Fleet sales accounted for 22 percent of total sales, a slight uptick from 21 percent for May 2017. Jeep® Brand Jeep brand total sales rose 29 percent to 97,287 vehicles, making it the best May in the company’s history. Driving the brand was the Jeep Wrangler as total sales rose 26 percent to 25,102 vehicles. The results marked the best May ever. Meanwhile, Jeep Compass total sales rose to 17,327 vehicles, making it the best month of sales ever. Ram Truck Brand Ram Truck brand total sales rose 2 percent to 51,884 vehicles compared with the previous year. Ram Light Duty retail sales rose 18 percent in May to 27,011 vehicles. Chrysler Brand Chrysler brand total sales declined 18 percent in May to 14,724 vehicles compared with the same month a year ago. Dodge Brand Dodge brand total sales rose 4 percent to 46,581. The Dodge Journey notched a new May record as monthly sales increased 37 percent to 10,966 vehicles. FIAT Brand Sales of Fiat declined 46 percent to 1,441 vehicles. Alfa Romeo Brand Alfa Romeo brand sales of 2,377 vehicles were up significantly compared with the same month a year ago. Giulia led the brand with 1,175 sales, followed by Stelvio at 1,183 sales.

  12. VOLKSWAGEN OF AMERICA REPORTS APRIL 2018 SALES RESULTS Sales totaled 28,794 units, an increase of 4.5 percent compared to April 2017. Year-to-date sales totaled 112,746 units, an increase of 8.6 percent over 2017 and highest volume YTD since 2014. Sales of the all-new 2018 Tiguan totaled 7,637 units. Sales of the Chattanooga-built Atlas totaled 5,404 units. Herndon, VA — (May 1, 2018) Volkswagen of America, Inc. (VWoA) today reported sales of 28,794 units delivered in April 2018, an increase of 4.5 percent over April 2017. With 112,746 units delivered year-to-date in 2018, the company is reporting an 8.6 percent increase in year-over-year sales. “We are encouraged with the brand’s continued growth in the market, driven by the success of our two new SUVs,” said Derrick Hatami, Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Volkswagen of America. “We are also excited to have the all-new 2019 Jetta going on sale later this month, adding to the positive momentum.” April 2018 proved to be another growth month for Volkswagen, driven by sales of the Atlas and 2018 Tiguan with 5,404 and 7,637 units delivered respectively. Overall sales reflected the impact of Volkswagen’s move to offer a more family-friendly lineup, with SUVs accounting for nearly 50 percent of total volume for the Volkswagen brand in year-over-year sales. The all-new 2019 Jetta is expected to arrive at U.S. Volkswagen dealers later this month. The Jetta is one of the world’s most successful sedans, with more than 17 million models sold worldwide, including more than 3.2 million of those vehicles in the U.S. The 2019 Jetta offers a bolder design, more interior space and new technology. For the 2018 model year, most new Volkswagen vehicles in the U.S. will come with the People First Warranty, a six-year or 72,000-mile (whichever occurs first) bumper-to-bumper New Vehicle Limited Warranty, which can be transferred to subsequent owners throughout its duration.   16. Mercedes-Benz USA reports March sales of 28,407 units Apr 3, 2018 – ATLANTA: Mercedes-Benz USA (MBUSA) today reported March sales of 28,407 units. Mercedes-Benz Vans reported March sales of 2,967 units (up 3.3%) and smart reported 110 units, bringing the MBUSA grand total to 31,484 vehicles for the month. On a year-to-date basis, Mercedes-Benz recorded sales of 78,474, adding 8,186 units for Vans and 321 vehicles for smart. MBUSA's year-to-date sales volume totaled 86,981 compared with 87,635 for the same period in 2017. "While winter storms in our Northeast region certainly impacted our totals, we continue to see strong gains for our GLC, GLA and S-Class model lines," said Dietmar Exler, president and CEO of MBUSA. "We expect strong SUV demand, combined with our diverse product line up, to help propel additional growth in the second quarter." Mercedes-Benz volume leaders in March included the GLC, C-Class and GLE model lines. The GLC took the lead at 6,064, followed by C-Class sales of 4,984. The GLE rounded out the top three with 4,573 units sold. Mercedes-AMG high-performance models sold 2,696 units in March, with a total of 7,619 units sold year-to-date. MITSUBISHI MOTORS REPORTS MARCH 2018 SALES UP 21.7 PERCENT Best March sales for the brand since 2005 Outlander Sport and Outlander both record their best March sales month ever Calendar year sales up 22.7 percent over 2017 CYPRESS, Calif. – Mitsubishi Motors North America, Inc. (MMNA) reported March 2018 sales of 14,319 units sold, up 21.7 percent over March 2017, its best March sales month since 2005. For the calendar year, total sales reported are 35,772, up 22.7 percent over the same period in 2017. The month was highlighted by Outlander Sport sales, which reported its best March ever. Outlander Sport sales were up 74.7 percent over March 2017 with 4,674 units sold. The popular Outlander also posted its best March ever with 4,789 units sold, up 13.1 percent over the same period in 2017. "Our CUV lineup is as strong as ever. (April 3, 2018) - Volvo Car USA, LLC, (VCUSA) reported U.S. sales of 8,233 vehicles for the month of March, an increase of 53.7 percent from the same period last year. For the first quarter of 2018, VCUSA sales were 20,083, an increase of 49.03 percent from the previous year. Recently announced as 2018 World Car of the Year, the new XC60 had its best month to date with 2,331 sales recorded.   21. Nissan Group reports March 2018 U.S. sales NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Nissan Group today announced total U.S. sales for March 2018 of 162,535 units, a decrease of 4% compared to the previous year. Nissan highlights: Nissan Rogue posted the best monthly performance in the nameplate's history with 42,151 sales, up 7%. Armada SUV sales rose 39% to 4,288 units, a March record. Frontier truck sales rose to 8,932 units, up 28%. Sentra compact sales increased 14% to 25,123 units. INFINITI today reported sales of 17,432 vehicles in the U.S. during March, down 5%. Deliveries of the all-new 2019 QX50, powered by the world’s first variable compression engine, began in March, contributing to the luxury crossover’s best March, with 1,913 total sold, up 11%. The Q50 sports sedan increased 34% to 5,085 in March, up 12% for the year. Overall INFINITI sedans and coupes were up 2.6% in March. BMW Group electrified vehicle sales increase 71.1, accounting for 7.4 percent of total U.S. sales in March 2018. Woodcliff Lake, NJ – April 3, 2018… Sales of BMW brand vehicles increased 1 percent in March 2018 for a total of 31,311­­ compared to 31,015 vehicles sold in March 2017. Through Q1 2018, BMW brand sales are up 3.0 percent year-over-year. BMW brand sales in March 2018 were once again led by BMW’s lineup of Sports Activity Vehicles and the BMW 5 Series, which has shown strong growth for nine straight months. “It’s Spring and thoughts naturally turn to new cars with March giving us another uptick in sales – five months in a row – as the 5 Series continues to defy conventional thinking and proves there’s still a place in the market for a great sedan,” said Bernhard Kuhnt, President and CEO, BMW of North America. “At the same time, our X model lineup is expanding with the X2 now fully in the marketplace and Sports Activity Vehicles nearing 50% of our sales.” MINI Brand Sales For March, MINI USA reported 4,531 vehicles sold, a decrease of 9.1 percent from the 4,987 sold in the same month a year ago. BMW Group Sales In total, BMW Group in the U.S. (BMW and MINI combined) reported March 2018 sales of 35,842 vehicles, a decrease of 0.4 percent from the 36,002 vehicles sold in the same month a year ago. BMW Group Electrified Vehicle Sales BMW Group in the U.S. (BMW and MINI combined) sales of electric and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles totaled 2,662 in March 2018, an increase of 71.1 percent from the 1,556 sold in the same month a year ago. BMW Group electrified vehicles accounted for 7.4 percent of U.S. sales in March 2018.

Honda brand sales set a new March record, gaining 2.6% on sales of 128,855 Accord sales topped 24,000 for the month, moving up vs. last month while competing in a declining segment dominated by heavy incentives. Pilot jumped 42.4% on sales of 14,158; Odyssey rose 27.8% on sales of 9,873. HR-V had its best-ever March, rising 1.3% on sales of 7,753 vehicles. Civic gained 3.4% on sales of 32,584 units.
